New school zone hours extended in Carson City area

School zones for Bordewich Bray, Carson Middle, Carson High, Eagle Valley, Empire, Fremont, Fritsch, Mark Twain, Pioneer High and Seeliger have been extended from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday. The installation of new signs and updated times is expected to be completed by the second week of October, 2020.
Carson City Polar Express 2020 aboard V&T train canceled, replaced with Drive-Thru Village

In its place, V&T Railway will host Santa’s Drive-Thru Village, a socially distanced holiday event, Dec. 11-13 and Dec. 18-24.

Stewart Indian School Cultural Center and Museum in Carson City to reopen Monday

Opened in January and closed to the public in March because of the current health crisis, the Cultural Center faced severe budget cuts.
Nevada governor expands state shutdown to include religious gatherings, golf courses

Gov. Steve Sisolak has already limited public gatherings of 10 or more people, but as the holidays near, his latest emergency directive makes it clear places of worship should not be planning in-person services. Drive-in and pop-up services also are prohibited during the duration of the state’s emergency declaration.
V&T Railway begins early bookings for 2020 season: Steam trains, wine and beer tours, Polar Express and more

Reno-Tahoe International hits 4.45 million passenger mark in 2019

Senator Square: Fellowship of Christian Athletes thanks Carson City community for support
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 01/05/2020 - 8:58amNot only did the nonprofit organization Fellowship of Christian Athletes open their Christmas tree lot Nov. 24 to raise funds for their organization’s events and outreaches, they also supported other organizations and individuals by giving away 350 Angel Tree Christmas stockings and Christmas trees to Carson City children and families in need, and they also partnered with Sierra Lutheran High School to donate 75 trees to the US Marines at the Warfare Training Center in Coleville, Calif.
