Carson City is facing the same problems other growing communities throughout the nation are: a lack of affordable housing which in turn is causing a gap in the workforce for important careers that require technical training.

Pioneer High School is a public high school in the Carson City School District. All 9th-12th grade CCSD students are encouraged to enroll. PHS is accredited through AdvancED and has been recognized by the Nevada Department of Education as a “Highlighted School” for achievement in 2011 and 2018. Students at PHS have been able to earn an Associate’s Degree from WNC along with their high school diploma free of charge.

Carson and Pioneer high schools name valedictorians and salutatorians

The Carson City School District is pleased to announce six high school seniors (four from Carson High School and two from Pioneer High School) who have shown exceptional academic prowess. The valedictorian and salutatorian honors represent the students who have earned the highest and second highest ranks, respectively, among their graduating class.

Nevada governor's directive supports high school students graduating on time

CARSON CITY — Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak issued a Declaration of Emergency on Wednesday that would continue to support districts and schools in providing opportunities for students to learn from a distance during the COVID-19 pandemic. The directive builds on a previous directive signed March 20, 2020 by the Governor, which waived requirements for state assessments, including Smarter Balanced assessments and end of course exams.

Lyon County boasts 50 students graduating with Jump Start Program, receiving High School and Associate degrees

Lyon County School District's 50 dual enrolled students with the Jump Start Program received Associate's degrees on Monday, May 20th at the Western Nevada College commencement ceremony.

In a few weeks, these students will also receive a high school diploma from Dayton High School, Fernley High School, and Silver Stage High School.

Nevada schools post highest graduation rate ever

Nevada high schools posted their highest graduation rate ever at 83.17 percent for the Class of 2018, an increase of 2.32 percentage points.

Carson City School District increased 2.05 points in 2018 to 85.98 percent, according to the Nevada Department of Education.
