Carson City Schools Foundation awards various grants to support students and educators

The Carson City School District, on behalf of the Carson City Schools Foundation, is pleased to announce winners of mini-grants from Fall 2019 and Spring 2020. The competitive process garners dozens of applications from district educators each semester. In addition to the mini-grants, the foundation has also awarded $2,000 to $3,000 grants for a Department, School or Grade-level projects.

'Stop The Bleed' is new creed at Sierra Lutheran High School

Somebody simply must stop the bleed, and Sierra Lutheran High School is responding to that challenge. Recently, the faculty and staff of the Christian college prep high school in Carson City became the first schoolwide staff in Douglas County to take part in the national bleed kit training being promoted by The National Stop the Bleed Campaign.

University of Nevada, Reno to host free clinic in Silver Springs Saturday

The University of Nevada, Reno Student Outreach Clinic will be hosting a Rural Outreach Clinic in Silver Springs this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Screenings and exams include blood pressure and hypertension checks, diabetes screenings, wellness exams, clinical evaluations, as well as child influenza vaccinations.

Carson City Schools awarded $712,250 from Tesla for STEM, sustainability education

As part of Tesla’s K-12 Investment Fund, the Carson City School District is pleased to announce it is the most recent recipient of nearly a million dollars in grant funding. The money will help fund a district-wide sustainability initiative for the next three years.

A Carson High School student's senior project, designed to help parents and community members identify drug abuse and mental distress, was on display last week as part of a Partnership Carson City youth high school program display.

The Carson Comedy Club hosts its first Military Appreciation Night on Friday at the Carson Nugget. Carson High School student creates mock teen bedroom to help parents spot warning signs

Partnership Carson City youth high school program participant Nancy Mejorado, 17, is creating a mock teenage bedroom for parents and community leaders to better know how to spot drugs among youth belongings.

The mock bedroom, which is Mejorado’s Carson High School senior project, opens to the public 2:30-7 p.m. Jan. 22-23 at Partnership’s main office, 1925 N. Carson St.
