Hello and welcome to the middle of the work week, Carson City. Today is Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2018. It is also International Walk to School Day, so be prepared to see a lot more school children walking with their parents and friends to school along sidewalks and crossing streets. Among other featured events include the launch of "Trailblazing Nevada,” a new museum experience inside Battle Born Hall at the Nevada State Capitol, a fundraiser at Firehouse Subs for a Carson City cancer patient, a GOP open house, a talk about climate change at WNC and more.

Paul Dominique Laxalt, a former Nevada Governor, United States Senator, Lieutenant Governor and District Attorney, and one of former President Ronald Reagan’s closest friends in politics, died at a healthcare facility in Northern Virginia on Monday. He was 96.

The Carson City Republican Party invites all Republicans in Carson City to our meeting Thursday night.
We have Brady Griffiths who is the Field Outreach Director for Marsy’s Law, which happens to be Question 1 this November. Next will be John Wood, candidate for Board of Supervisors, following that we have Maurice White quickly talk about our new Nevada GOP Platform and Resolutions.

The public is invited to hear Kristin Luis and Ryan Russell, candidates for Carson City Justice of the Peace, at our upcoming meeting Tuesday, June 19.

Edwin Lyngar, a freelance writer, penned a “From the Left” piece this week in the Reno paper under the headline, “Trump’s tax policy is an attack on the community”. He hit the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA), President Trump and all Republicans and limited government conservatives.

We say “hit” because it was the usual leftwing label-and-bash fest, long on nasty rhetoric and not only devoid of evidence, but in fact contrary to well known facts and data.

His opening sentence calls the TCJA, “terrible … and a massive redistribution of wealth to the already super-rich.”

As Oprah ponders a run for the Presidency as a Democrat, she might pause and reflect on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. today honoring a great Republican. Dr. King chose to be a registered Republican because he knew, as does anyone who knows civil rights history, that the Democrats were the party of; slavery, the KKK, Jim Crow, and builders of Confederate war memorial monuments honoring slave owners.

We want to invite the public to our annual Freedom Fest Event which will be taking place on the evening of Thursday, July 27th beginning at 6:00PM. It will be held at Glen Eagles Restaurant (3700 N Carson Street, Carson City, NV 89706).

On May the 4th, the House of Representatives passed their version of health care reform (H.R. 1628) without a single hearing or any input from the Democratic minority. The vote was 217 to 213. All 193 Democrats voted no, as did 20 Republicans:

The public is invited to the regular monthly meeting of the Carson City Republican Party which will be held at Silver State Charter High School, 788 Fairview Dr Carson City, NV.

The doors are open at 6:30PM for a social half hour then the meeting begins at 7:00PM.

We will be having the Executive Director of the Nevada Republican Party as our guest speaker and he will be covering a wide range of political topics including what we will be doing in the upcoming year and plans for the 2018 midterm elections.

Elections were held for the Executive Board of the Carson City Republican Party on Thursday night, April 27th. The following are the new Executive Board for the Carson City GOP:

The biggest question right now is: “Why is Ira Hansen, a sitting Assemblyman from Sparks, going to such lengths to try to make people believe candidate Chris Forbush is ineligible to run for Assembly District 40 in Carson City?” Ira claims it is because he doesn’t want to see Forbush win the primary, but then as the Republican nominee, get thrown off the general election ballot leaving the seat wide open for the Democrat to win.
