The Browsers Corner Book Store will hold its biggest book sale of the year beginning Friday. Everything will be for sale at half price for more than a week - from Friday, August 29 through Saturday, Sept. 6. The store is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. On Saturday, August 30 the sale will spill over onto the parking lot.

Members of the Friends of the Library will receive an extra 10 percent discount on Friday, August 29 only - they must bring their membership card to receive a discount. All proceeds benefit the Carson City Library.

On Saturday, August 16 from 3-5 PM, the Friends of the Dayton Valley Library will host an author’s book discussion and sales at the Dayton Branch Library in Dayton, Nev. Wine and beer will be available for purchase. A donation of $3.00 will be asked at the door and the price of admission will entitle the patron to one glass of wine or a beer. Children are welcome for no charge as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

New York Times author Novella Carpenter will be at the 3rd and Curry Street downtown Carson City Farmer’s Market on July 19 at 11 a.m. to chat about her bestselling memoir, Farm City: The Education of an Urban Farmer.

Carpenter and northern Nevada agriculture expert Mark O’Farrell, of Hungry Mother Organics, are set to engage in a kitchen-table visit. Under a large tent, with seats for 100, the conversation will be led by northern Nevada’s KTVN news anchor Erin Breen. The special event is aimed at raising awareness about the vital role farmers play in our lives.

Douglas County Library hosts its annual Spring Book Sale, featuring more than 15,000 titles May 16 through May 18 at the C.V.I.C. Hall, 1602 Esmeralda Ave. in Minden.
Everyone is invited and Friends of the Library receive a 15 percent discount all weekend. There will be lots of signed books at reasonable prices,with more than 50 categories to choose from, including children's, fiction, art, nonfiction,and technical.

The Friends of the Carson City Library are excited to announce the Grand Opening of a beautiful, new Browsers Corner Bookstore on Saturday, April 12th at 9:30 am. The new location is just across the street from the Library at 711 East Washington Street. There will be a ribbon cutting at 9:30 a.m. with the Chamber of Commerce. Refreshments will be served and there will be a free raffle.

The Friends of the Carson City Library are hosting a Buy One Get One Free Book Sale Friday, Jan. 17 from 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday, Jan 18 from 10 am to 4 pm.

In a unanimous vote at their last quarterly meeting of 2013, the Carson City Library Foundation agreed to commit $33,000 toward renovating and furnishing the library auditorium to house the new Digitorium, a proposed space build-out for around 20 MacBook Pro computers, high tech software and more.

Approximately $22,000 in residual private matching monies that helped open the library’s first digital space in January of 2012 will also be used for the project, targeted for completion by late spring of 2014.

The Douglas County Library is holding its November book sale at the CVIC Hall in Minden on Friday, November 14th, (5-8 PM), Saturday, Nov. 16th, (9-5) and Sunday, Nov. 17 (9-2). Between June 7 and August 4 the Carson City Library engaged a record breaking 2,750 youth, ages 6 – 17, in signups for the 2013 summer reading program and attendance in summer learning activities. In that time, more than 21,788 items circulated from the library’s youth collection, primarily traditional books but also e-readers like Kindles, iPads, PlayAways and PlayAway Views.

Summer beach reading favorites and a Saturday morning Kiwanis Club pancake breakfast are on tap beginning today at the Friends of the Carson City Library's Bargain Blast Book Bonanza.

All adult hardcover books will be 50 cents each and paperbacks will be 25 cents. The sale will be at the Carson City Library, 900 N. Roop Street, today, Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The Friends of the Carson City Library will welcome comedienne Paula Poundstone in concert at the Bob Boldrick Theater in Carson City on Friday, March 29.

Doors open at 7 p.m. with the performance at 7:30 p.m. at the Theater, located in the Carson City Community Center. Reserved seats are $45 and general admission $35. Friends of the Library book lovers will now have a larger place to buy books and the Carson City Chamber of Commerce plans to launch the opening with a ribbon cutting.

The Friends of the Carson City Library has a new location for book sales. It is at 2311 North Carson Street, just behind Denny's Restaurant. There is lots of parking off of Hot Springs both in front of the building and behind it. Having a "permanent" space for our sales means that we will be having a sale very month.
The hours for our first sale in February are:

— Thursday, Feb. 14th - 3 pm to 6 pm - preview for members only
— Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15 & 16 - 10 am to 4 pm for everybody

Carson City Library Director Sara Jones was named the 2012 Nevada Library Association’s (NLA) Librarian of the Year at its 67th annual conference, held Oct. 4 & 5 at the Sahara West Library in Las Vegas. Jones joins the ranks of an elite group of librarians recognized for effective advancement and extension of library services; exemplary library management; notable activity in recruitment to the profession; statewide planning and for broadening the scope of library and information service to the community.

Carson City, NV—The Carson City Friends of the Library CCFL is hosting a performance by award winning comedienne, Paula Poundstone to raise money for the Library. The CCFL invited Poundstone to Carson City to celebrate National Friends of the Library Week and to help raise money for the Library.

The performance will take place on Friday, October 26 at the Bob Boldrick Theater (Community Center), located at 851 East William Street in Carson City. The doors open at 7 PM.

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce Breakfast Club will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 7:30 a.m. and will be hosted by Friends of the Library Carson City at the Carson City Library. The event will feature the official unveiling of its newly redesigned Web site.
