Biggest book sale of the year through Sept. 6
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 08/24/2014 - 11:49amThe Browsers Corner Book Store will hold its biggest book sale of the year beginning Friday. Everything will be for sale at half price for more than a week - from Friday, August 29 through Saturday, Sept. 6. The store is open from 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. On Saturday, August 30 the sale will spill over onto the parking lot.
Members of the Friends of the Library will receive an extra 10 percent discount on Friday, August 29 only - they must bring their membership card to receive a discount. All proceeds benefit the Carson City Library.
August Authors Event at Dayton Valley Library
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 08/04/2014 - 12:09amOn Saturday, August 16 from 3-5 PM, the Friends of the Dayton Valley Library will host an author’s book discussion and sales at the Dayton Branch Library in Dayton, Nev. Wine and beer will be available for purchase. A donation of $3.00 will be asked at the door and the price of admission will entitle the patron to one glass of wine or a beer. Children are welcome for no charge as long as they are accompanied by an adult.

Author, ag expert to have 'kitchen table' conversation during Carson City Farmer's Market

Under a large tent, with seats for 100, the conversation will be led by northern Nevada’s KTVN news anchor Erin Breen. The special event is aimed at raising awareness about the vital role farmers play in our lives.
Douglas County Library Hosts Spring Book Sale
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sat, 04/26/2014 - 4:56amDouglas County Library hosts its annual Spring Book Sale, featuring more than 15,000 titles May 16 through May 18 at the C.V.I.C. Hall, 1602 Esmeralda Ave. in Minden.
Everyone is invited and Friends of the Library receive a 15 percent discount all weekend. There will be lots of signed books at reasonable prices,with more than 50 categories to choose from, including children's, fiction, art, nonfiction,and technical.
Hours are Friday, 3 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sunday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call the Douglas County Library at 775-782-9841.
Grand Opening of the Browsers Corner Bookstore

The new location is just across the street from the Library at 711 East Washington Street. There will be a ribbon cutting at 9:30 a.m. with the Chamber of Commerce. Refreshments will be served and there will be a free raffle.

Carson Street. The sale hours are Friday, Feb. 14th from 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday, Feb. 15th from 10 am to 4 pm. There will be a preview sale for Members of the Friends of the Library on Thursday, Feb. 13th from 2 pm to 5 pm. If you are not a member of the Friends you can join at the door. Bags will be provided. All proceeds benefit the Carson City Library.

Buy One Get One Free Book Sale

The sale is at 2311 N. Carson Street in Carson City. All books, videos and other audio items are included in the sale.
We have a wide selection of adult and children's hardcover and paperback books. There is a preview sale for Members of the Friends of the Library on Thursday, Jan. 16 from 2 to 5 pm. If you are not already a Friend you can join at the door. All proceeds benefit the Carson City Library.

Carson City Library Foundation funds new 'Digitorium'
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 11/13/2013 - 10:09pmIn a unanimous vote at their last quarterly meeting of 2013, the Carson City Library Foundation agreed to commit $33,000 toward renovating and furnishing the library auditorium to house the new Digitorium, a proposed space build-out for around 20 MacBook Pro computers, high tech software and more.
Approximately $22,000 in residual private matching monies that helped open the library’s first digital space in January of 2012 will also be used for the project, targeted for completion by late spring of 2014.

Carson City Library summer enrichment programs bridge opportunity gap for local youth
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Fri, 08/16/2013 - 2:03amBetween June 7 and August 4 the Carson City Library engaged a record breaking 2,750 youth, ages 6 – 17, in signups for the 2013 summer reading program and attendance in summer learning activities. In that time, more than 21,788 items circulated from the library’s youth collection, primarily traditional books but also e-readers like Kindles, iPads, PlayAways and PlayAway Views.
Carson City Friends of the Library sale Friday, Kiwanis pancake breakfast Saturday

All adult hardcover books will be 50 cents each and paperbacks will be 25 cents. The sale will be at the Carson City Library, 900 N. Roop Street, today, Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Comedian Paula Poundstone from NPR's 'Wait Wait, Don't Tell Me' takes Carson City stage March 29

Doors open at 7 p.m. with the performance at 7:30 p.m. at the Theater, located in the Carson City Community Center. Reserved seats are $45 and general admission $35. Friends of the Library Book Warehouse Grand Opening

There is lots of parking off of Hot Springs both in front of the building and behind it. Having a "permanent" space for our sales means that we will be having a sale very month.
The hours for our first sale in February are:
— Thursday, Feb. 14th - 3 pm to 6 pm - preview for members only
— Friday and Saturday, Feb. 15 & 16 - 10 am to 4 pm for everybody

Carson City Library Director Sara Jones Named Nevada Librarian of the Year

Jones joins the ranks of an elite group of librarians recognized for effective advancement and extension of library services; exemplary library management; notable activity in recruitment to the profession; statewide planning and for broadening the scope of library and information service to the community.
Paula Poundstone to perform in Carson City to raise money for the Library

The CCFL invited Poundstone to Carson City to celebrate National Friends of the Library Week and to help raise money for the Library.
The performance will take place on Friday, October 26 at the Bob Boldrick Theater (Community Center), located at 851 East William Street in Carson City. The doors open at 7 PM.
Bargain Book Sale
