I don’t know what is about Tuesdays in our valley, but they’re hopping. Join Parks and Recreation as they take a walk to the Kings Canyon Waterfall, one of Carson City’s not-so-hidden treasures. Enjoy the Carson High Orchestra during their Fall Concert at the Bob Boldrick Theater tonight at 7 p.m. It’s Adult Coloring Night at the Carson City Library: bring your favorite doodle book, or choose from one of theirs. Know-it-alls can strut their stuff during DJ Trivia at Fox Brewpub, or at the Geeks Who Drink Pub Quiz at Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint.

Carson City emergency crews are responding to a motorcycle accident in the southbound lanes of Interstate 580, according to reports from emergency dispatch.

Tuesday Evening Hike Sponsored by Muscle Powered to Carson Freeway Multi-Use Path

Meet in the parking lot of the Multi-Purpose Athletic Center at 1860 Russell Way. Water and closed-toed shoes required. Tuesday’s Hike Program are evening hikes of 4-6 miles in length with an elevation gain, sometimes over 500 feet and usually on single track trail.

If it rains or snows, meet at the Multi-Purpose Athletic Center (MAC) at 1860 Russell Way.

Carson City deputies make arrests for illegal body armor possession, DUI and drugs

A 29-year-old man was arrested Saturday for felony suspicion of being a convicted person in possession of body armor and misdemeanor disorderly conduct, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Saturday's Trash Mob focuses on Carson City multi-use trail

Trash Mobs are a grassroots community effort coordinated by Muscle Powered volunteers to keep the walkways and bike paths around Carson City free of litter.

The monthly, one-hour events take place at various locations around town that are in need of cleaning. Volunteers, who are supplied with work gloves and trash bags by Muscle Powered staff, remove litter from areas often used by citizens for recreational purposes such as walking, jogging or cycling.

But lo and behold, the new 580 extension opened its last leg to traffic yesterday. The hot summer temperatures continue, so seek indoor entertainment during the day and keep cool.

With all the celebratory fanfare last month, Wednesday morning brought a much-anticipated and collective welcome refrain of "finally" for Carson City area motorists who have patiently waited for the last leg opening of the I-580 freeway.

With no official date announced yet for opening up the final section of the Interstate 580 bypass through Carson City, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has said it hopes to have traffic flowing the entire length of the freeway next week.

The Nevada Department of Transportation is inviting community members to take part in a free fun walk, run and ride celebrating the upcoming opening of the last leg of the Interstate 580 Carson City Freeway.

Single vehicle rollover on Old U.S. 395 in Washoe Valley

Carson City emergency units responded to a single vehicle rollover accident reported at around 6 a.m. Saturday along on Old U.S. Highway 395 adjacent to the Interstate 580 freeway and about a half mile north of the county line.

Carson City Bypass to open first week in August

Crews are putting the final polish on the last stretch of freeway that will complete the Carson Bypass. Tentative plans are to open for a run-walk and bike tour for area residents July 22. The final stretch won't open to traffic until the first week of August.

New July 1 law require drivers to slow and move over for NDOT vehicles working on roadsides

Current Nevada law requires drivers to slow down, proceed with caution, and if possible, move to the far lane when passing official emergency response vehicles pulled over on the side of the road with amber lights flashing. Effective Saturday, July 1, an updated law requires drivers to also do the same for Nevada Department of Transportation vehicles.
