A musical treat arrives at A To Zen in Carson City on Monday, June 10 with two solo sets of exceptional musicians: Brother Dan Palmer of Carson City and Kazoo Studios of Oakland, Calif.

Dan Palmer is best classified as an upbeat, observant singing songwriter specializing in Modern Americana music. Often compared to artists as diverse as John Mayer, Maroon 5, James Taylor, David Wilcox, Dan Fogelberg, Todd Snider, Dave Mason, and Harry Chapin.

The Passing of the Baton

The Capital City Community Band will present its annual Nevada Day free concert at 2:00P.M. on Saturday, October 27th in the Capital Amphitheater.

The concert will feature variety of music from Dixieland to Marches to Patriotic songs. A special feature will be “Home Means Nevada” by Marine Band arranger Sgt. Scott Ninmer.

The arrangement will feature Doug Thunder, a forty-one-year member of the band, on Euphonium.

Congrats, Carson kids, you've just about survived the first week of school. Families can celebrate with a concert in Minden Park that will be filled with the music of Credence Clearwater Survival. Adults will enjoy an outdoor concert at Living the Good Life with Mo'z Motley Blues Band - just make sure to wish the proprietress a happy birthday. Fallon might be a few miles away, but their Cantaloupe Festival, Carnival, and Country Fair is sure to make up for the drive with delicious offerings and a fun country tribute concert.

Let's kick off the weekend with a street party, or two. The HopeFest Concert at the Carson Tahoe Medical Center is a family friendly celebration. Grab something from a food truck, enter their raffle, and get your groove on. The music doesn't stop when the sun goes down though. You've got your choice of Deception at Living the Good Life, or Mentally Spent on the Third Street Stage in McFadden Plaza. Douglas County has Summerfest in Minden Park: live music, yummy eats, and a come-as-you-are car show sure to get Carson Valley hoppin.

Summer nights are made to be enjoyed. Grab the kids, a blanket and picnic, and head to the park nearest you. Mills Park in Carson City features its first ever ‘Movie in the Park’ tonight with a showing of ‘Sing’. Gardnerville’s last of the season movie is Disney’s ‘Moana.’ Dancing shoes are recommended, but not required, for this week’s outdoor concert in McFadden Plaza: Musicole begins at 7:30 p.m. Get there early to see the amazing talent in 'We Rock Kidz' on the stage in Comma Coffee's Courtyard. There’s a riot at Mills Park. Don’t worry, this isn’t the kind of riot you want to avoid: the Rockabilly Riot has roared into town and offers rad cars, drag races, live music, a burlesque show and tattoo expo. Intermingled with the pompadours and pin-up girls are hundreds of law enforcement officers in town to show off their skills at the Annual Extreme Motor Officer Training Challenge. Tonight you’ll have to choose where you go for free music: the street dance at Jimmy G’s, Gold Dust West, Westside Pour House, the Fandango, Nugget, or Max Casino.

Carson City is one of 40 cities around the Nation bidding for a $25,000 award for a free summer music series. We are currently in 17th place and the Levitt Amp music series will be giving away 15 awards of $25,000 each.

The top 25 cities with the most votes will be eligible for the grant but the higher up you are on the list, the better chance you have for the cash award. The award is a matching grant with a total budget of $50,000.

The concerts will be regional artists and national touring bands along with a festival style local artist event, all free of charge and will take place on the Brewery Arts Center campus.

Carson City via the Brewery Arts Center is now in the running to bring a 10-week live music series to Carson City during the Summer of 2016.

Sponsored by Levitt Pavilions, the national nonprofit behind the largest free concert series in America, the Brewery Arts Center hopes to qualify as one of the 15 winning organizations competing in the Levitt AMP Carson City Grant Awards.
