Senator Square: Carson City Schools Orchestra students prepare for Holiday Concert

Just the idea of a concert in Carson City is exciting enough, but it gets even better because this musical event will cost audiences absolutely nothing except a little time and effort getting there. Admission is free.

The classes are open to all adults with special needs, seniors, veterans, etc.

Polls in Nevada open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. Meanwhile, enjoy another day of sunny skies with a hike, brisk walk or bike ride around town. There's both a morning and evening hike offered through Muscle Powered or you can simply walk through downtown Carson City and alongside the capitol building. Also featured today are activities that promote diabetes awareness through Carson Tahoe Health, numerous art showings, local political party election night events and a classic film being shown at the Brewery Arts Center.

Free fitness classes in Carson City and Minden next week

Starting Monday, women can attend any classes, which will be a mixed hour of endurance-based exercises.
Regular classes in Carson City are offered at 5, 6 and 8:30 a.m.; noon; and 5:30 p.m. Minden classes are 5, 6, and 9 a.m.; and 5:30 p.m.
Cooperative Extension offers ‘Gardening Smarter as We Mature’

Winter Wine and All That Jazz benefit for the Brewery Arts Center set for Jan. 18
Submitted by editor on Fri, 01/10/2014 - 6:38pmThe Brewery Arts Center, Carson City’s premiere epicenter for the arts since 1977 has partnered with the Carson Nugget as well as various vineyards and vendors to present Winter Wine and All That Jazz, an evening of wine tasting, music, dancing, a live art demonstration, silent auction and raffles.
This annual fundraiser will be held on Saturday, January 18 at the Carson Nugget from 7pm to 10pm. Tickets are $30 per person and are available for purchase at www.breweryarts.org. For more info call the Brewery Arts Center office at 775-883-1976
BRIC offers new business education series

The series, “Hwy 101-RoadMap to Business Success”, will be held Wednesdays from Noon to 1:30 pm. These classes will complement the existing business library resources available, as well as individual business counseling and mentoring offered by the BRIC. These free classes will focus on key information for both entrepreneurs and existing businesses.
