Heading into the weekend, there’s an abundance of activities around the capital city region over the next three days. The Brewery Arts Center hosts a female version of "The Odd Couple." The Carson City Classic Cinema Club released its 2019 movie schedule Tuesday with an impressive list of treasured films — including Academy Award winners — representing some of the most notable movies in history, with genres that range from comedies to westerns, suspense, science fiction to hard-hitting dramas.

October in Northern Nevada means more than Nevada Day. There are also outhouse races, fall festivals and Oktoberfests; all three of which are happening this first weekend of October around the region.

It’s easy to get excited about Halloween as it approaches. October is filled with pumpkin stuff, haunted houses, and plenty of parties. But here in the capital city, we have Nevada Day to anticipate, as well: a day filled with hot air balloons, parade floats, music, competitions, and plenty of Battle Born fun. While you’re waiting for the three-day weekend, go enjoy Monday. Football, swing dancing, and karaoke are all on the menu.

Carson City native Grant Davis, 20, stars in the musical film, "Something Like Summer," the award-winning new movie that has won raves on the 2017 film festival circuit, including prominent engagements in Sydney, Australia; Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; Los Angeles, San Diego, Philadelphia and Miami.

The screening and judging ceremony for the 2016 Carson Creepy Short Horror Film contest will be help this Saturday, October 29th, at the Brewery Arts Center Performance Hall in Carson City. Competitors were given one week to make a short horror film between 5 and 8 minutes long.

Royal Wedding is a 1951 musical with the usual Astaire grace. Astaire and Jane Powell play a brother-sister dance team who each find love when they travel to London, to perform during the festivities surrounding the royal wedding. Come see Fred dance on the ceiling.
