Carson Creepy Short Horror Film screening and judging this Saturday

Registration underway for 2016 Carson City Creepy Short Horror Film Competition

The 2016 Carson City Creepy Short Horror Film Competition is now registering teams. Make a scary short film in just one week. On Oct. 19 at 12 noon, all registered teams will receive their prompts — a prop, a sound effect and a line of dialogue. Exactly one week later, they must turn in their finished short horror film ranging between 5 and 8 minutes in length.

The 2016 City Wide Short Film competition kicks off on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 at 12:00 PM. Up-and-coming filmmakers are urged to enter and make a movie in ONE WEEK. That's right, ONE WEEK! Once the competition begins, those who have entered must make a 5-7 minute short film and turn it in by 12:00 PM the following Wednesday.

Seeking Filmmakers for 2016 Carson City Festival

Filmmakers have until Friday, Jan. 8, 2016 to enter their work in an Independent Film Competition sponsored by Western Nevada College, the Bob Boldrick Theatre, Carson City Library and the Friends of the CC Library. Winners will be shown at WNC during the Carson City International Film Weekend Feb. 18-20.

Carson City short film competition and screening welcomes movie lovers and critics

The third annual City Wide Short Film Competition kicked off Saturday evening with a red carpet event and then a screening of the short films. Seventeen teams created short 1 to 10 minute films to be shown to the public and voted on. All movies were required to use the same line of dialog, prop and sound effect.

Tonight, Saturday, is the third annual City Wide Short Film Competition. In its third year we have 17 teams creating a short 1 to 10 minute film in the space of one week.

The community is invited to attend the showing and watch how the participants added three ingredients to each of their films. Teams could select from 4 genres but each must use the same three ingredients, a prop, sound effect and line of dialog, ensuring the film was made for this competition and into the last week of production.

I apologize, Carson City. You have some decisions to make. There is quite a bit going on whether you want something family friendly, adults only, indoors, outdoors, or a combination of it all. The weekly Farmers Market at Third and Curry St. is always a good way to start the weekend. Yummy food, a bounce house for the kids, and beautiful flowers are hard to argue with. Midnight deadline tonight to register for BAC's St. Patrick's-themed filmmaking competition

The Brewery Arts Center, Carson TV and Wired Wednesday Digital Arts Club announce a new film competition, the first "St. Paddy's Film Crawl: A Short Filmmaking Competition" with screening and judging March 14. Registration deadline has been extended to midnight, Wednesday, March 4.

Films cannot be less than 1 minute or more than 10 minutes in length. They must utilize one fact about St. Patrick's Day and can be Documentary or Mockumentary in nature.

Today kicks off the second annual International Film Weekend in Carson City. The main event is this evening in the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Community Center, a free showing of “Boy.” “Boy” is about a youth coming of age in the Maori culture in New Zealand in 1984.

What began last year with a desire by five local women to bring international films to Carson City will this year be a multi-venue, free three-day event, Thursday through Saturday, Feb. 5-7. Last year’s event was a rousing success, paving the way for this year’s larger festival.

The Carson City Community Center and Western Nevada College will be venues for viewing three foreign feature-length films, three independently produced films, and several Brewery Arts Center contest-winning short films.

Team entry deadline nears for Carson City short film competition

The Citywide Short Film Competition, hosted by the Brewery Arts Center, Carson City Access Television and the Nevada Arts Council, is less than two weeks away. Teams must register by 5 p.m. Wednesday, July 23. It is free to enter and participate.

Organizers of this second annual event are looking for budding filmmakers of all ages. The week-long short film competition runs from noon Friday, July 25 to noon, Friday Aug. 1.

BAC, Carson City Access TV launch second annual Short Film Competition

The Brewery Arts Center and Carson City Access Television are looking for budding filmmakers of all ages for its second citywide short film competition.

The week-long City Wide Short Film Competition runs from noon Friday, July 25 to noon, Friday Aug. 1. Registration is required by 5 p.m. July 23. It is free to enter and participate.

Here's how it works: On Friday, July 25, filmmaking teams will pick a film genre and be given three "ingredients" that must be used in the film.

Access TV, Brewery Arts Center launch first Carson City short film competition

Hey all you budding filmmakers out there, Carson City Access Television, the Brewery Arts Center and Digital Arts Factory have launched a short film competition and are inviting Carson City residents of all ages to participate as teams.

The week-long City Wide Short Film Competition runs from noon August 9 to noon August 16. Registration is required by August 7. It is free to enter and participate.
