It opens March 26 at National Geographic’s Washington, D.C. headquarters and runs through Oct. 12, 2015.

Wilson, M.D., created an algorithm-based mechanism that forecasts the spread of infectious diseases worldwide and is used by the Centers for Disease Control, Department of Defense and other national agencies with interest in monitoring these developments.

Imaginations is a design competition created and sponsored by Walt Disney Imagineering with the purpose of seeking out and nurturing the next generation of diverse Imagineers.
UNR winter commencement class to receive honors at Dec. 6 ceremony

A total of 1,475 degrees – 1,094 bachelor’s degrees and 381 advanced degrees or certificates (master’s and doctoral degrees) – will be awarded.
Graduating students and faculty leaders will assemble at 8 a.m., and the ceremony procession will begin at 8:15 a.m. University President Marc Johnson will deliver welcoming remarks.
The University awarded 1,461 degrees at the December 2013 ceremony, and a total of 3,712 degrees were granted last academic year.

Early Care and Education Specialist YaeBin Kim received the First Place National Award in the human development/family relationships program category for her “Little Books and Little Cooks” nutrition and early literacy program from the National Extension Association of Family and Consumer Sciences a few weeks ago at the Association’s annual meeting in Lexington, Ken.

In celebration of the event, the Nevada Bureau of Mines and Geology will host the 17th Annual Earth Science Week Field Trip, Oct. 11 and 12, 2014. The dramatic play had its first show this past weekend. It will continue this coming weekend with performances on Oct. 9, 10, 11 at 7p.m. and again at 2 p.m. on Oct. 11. Carson City supervisors recognize 'Always Lost' exhibition on costs of war

Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell, a Vietnam veteran, has called the exhibit “our community’s gift to the nation.”
A proclamation honoring the creators and contributors of “Always Lost” was presented to Western Nevada College President Chester Burton and Professors Emeritus Don Carlson and Marilee Swirczek during the Board of Supervisors meeting.

To date, this is the largest gift the College of Business has received.
UNR welcomes second largest fall enrollment, 6.2 percent increase over 2013

This reflects a 6.2 percent increase over the fall 2013 enrollment of 18,776. These numbers reveal the second-largest enrollment jump for the University; the first took place in 2001 when enrollment grew by 1,167 students, which this year’s enrollment numbers narrowly missed by nine students.

Pre-sale car wash tickets are $3 and can be purchased from any HOSA student. The cost will go up to $5 the day of the car wash. All proceeds go to help send HOSA students to State and National conferences to compete and represent Carson City.

The honor rolls consist of regularly enrolled undergraduates above freshman standing who earned a 3.4 or better grade point average, and freshmen who have earned a 3.25 or better grade point average.
The three other Nevada students are Haley Mahiah Cohn of Incline Village, Shane Matthew Bell of Winnemucca and Rachel Kathryn Brock of Las Vegas.
