Carson City Parks and Recreation Easy Walk schedule through June

The Carson City Parks and Recreation Department hosts its Easy Walks program each Tuesday with a new walking location weekly around Carson City. This Tuesday, April 21, the walk will be at the Stewart Indian School, beginning at 8:30 a.m. meet in parking lot at 5366 Snyder Avenue.

Walks are easy paced, on level ground, of approximately 1 hour duration, and of no cost to participants. All skill levels are welcome and leaders are willing to work with participants to develop an individual walking program.

Carson City named a Bicycle Friendly Community by the League of American Bicyclists

UPDATE: The League of American Bicyclists on Tuesday recognized Carson City with a bronze level Bicycle Friendly Community award, joining more than 325 visionary communities from across the country. With the announcement, Carson City joins a leading group of communities, in all 50 states, that are transforming our neighborhoods.

A Walk Down the Fall Art Walk Lane

At 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday morning a group of well bundled people met in downtown Carson City for the Fall Art Walk. If you missed the walk or forgot to take notes, here is a brief recap.

1) Comma Coffee – The “Backseat Gallery” in the back was featuring art by Barry Mitchell. It was a great opportunity to get a hot coffee too.

2) Legislative Grounds – A viewing of the statues of Kit Carson and Abraham Curry and the Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial along the beautiful ground of the Nevada State Legislature.

Ride with Carson City’s Leaders

A combination of great weather and growing enthusiasm for cycling in Carson City is getting getting people out there on their bikes, and the ride with Carson City’s Leaders on May 7th was no exception.
