Fishing Report: Topaz Opener set to be a relatively warm winter day for fishing the stocked lake
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Fri, 12/27/2019 - 4:12pmHello fellow anglers! We are just a few days away from the Topaz opener on January 1, 2020 after its closure three months ago to this date.
The Nevada Department of Wildlife has planted 51,000 pounds of trout, which is approximately 17,800 individual trout.
As a note, the NDOW planted Eagle Lake, Triploid and the Tahoe strain as well. I would have to say, if you don't catch a fish on opening day. It might be time to look for a new sport. With all the trout in the lake with the additional poundage that has been added, fishing should be pretty good.

As many of us look forward to opening day at Topaz Lake on Jan. 1, 2020, I must tell you of a big change this year.

Citizen directs message to person who left abandoned camp fire off Goni Road
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 04/20/2018 - 6:48amEditor's Note: Carson Now asks its readers to use their real name with submissions. We received this submission today from "a concerned citizen." Because of what they found, and the fact that Nevada is generally always in a state of fire danger, we thought we'd let this one slide.
Camping season is upon us, and the weather is getting nice. It's that time of year when people like to get out and have a good time in the great outdoors camping, four-wheeling, hiking etc. It's fun to enjoy our open spaces.
Just remember, it's important to be responsible while we're all living it up outside.

Submitted by Danielle Cook on Fri, 02/09/2018 - 6:08pmYou can probably scratch ‘hitting the slopes’ off this weekend’s list of options, but you can hit the ‘hill’ instead: Prison Hill, to be exact. You’ll find the start and finish line for Ascent Runs’ ‘Love Can Be Cold’ 5 or 10K at the Prison Hill Southern Trailhead. If you’d rather crawl than run, Virginia City’s ‘Devil Made Me Do It’ Saloon Crawl might be for you. Find something special for your special someone at Artsy Fartsy’s annual Champagne and Jewelry Show or at the Valentine’s Craft Fair inside the Carson Mall.
