While working as an office manager for a local elementary school in Carson City and speaking with children every day, DiMarzo realized that that many families struggled to get through the holidays.

Denim and Diamonds Fundraiser at Carson City's Casino Fandango to Benefit Austin's House

All proceeds benefit Austin's House, our local non-profit children's shelter. The shelter cares for children ages infant to 18 who have been removed from their homes due to neglect or abuse.
This year's gala event features a fabulous dinner, silent and live auctions, and dancing to the music of DJ Steven ROCKS. Tickets are available for $65 or $125.

Just the idea of a concert in Carson City is exciting enough, but it gets even better because this musical event will cost audiences absolutely nothing except a little time and effort getting there. In the Silver State, the Retail Association of Nevada estimates that more than 1.7 million people spent a total of $638.9 million on gifts, decorations and other merchandise over the five-day period.

We'll see mostly cloudy skies before another chance of rain or snow arrives midweek and then a larger storm in time for the weekend. As the saying goes of Nevada weather: Wait a minute and it will change. It is also #GivingTuesday. If you have a favorite organization, it's a good time to send a few dollars their way. Around town there's art showings, a fitness walk, hike, dance classes and an old school film favorite at the Brewery Arts Center hosted by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club.

The Silver and Snowflakes Festival has been the official beginning of the holiday season for years, with the lighting of the great Christmas tree on Capitol grounds. Keep an eye out for Santa Claus, the Grinch, Max the dog, and Carson City's 5th graders who will be singing their hearts out while the tree is lit!

Fundraiser tonight in Dayton, Saturday in Carson City for young girl battling brain tumor
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 11/20/2019 - 3:01pmTonight, (Wednesday night) in Dayton, the Sutro Elementary School Boosters Club will host a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for a student, Maliya Gafford, who has been diagnosed with a brain tumor. A fundraiser is also planned for this Saturday in Carson City.
The dinner tonight is from 5 to 7 p.m. in the Sutro Elementary School multipurpose room, 190 Dayton Village Pkwy, Dayton.
The cost is $5. There will be a raffle, silent auction and a bake sale. Boosters will have a donation box in the office if you are unable to attend but would like to help.

Sneaky Bear spotted rifling through King's Canyon in an attempt find a late night snack

After our furry friend was unable to find any trash-snacks, he left the scene of the almost crime. But, as they say, one man's trash is another bear's dinner.
