Carson City arrests: Woman jailed for drug possession after driving too slow
Submitted by editor on Sun, 03/24/2019 - 10:04amA 40 year-old Sparks woman was arrested Friday night for suspicion of felony drug possession and a lesser charge after the vehicle she was driving had been stopped for impeding traffic, a Carson City sheriff's deputy reported.

Some of the deer were fortunate enough to stay dry under the tree canopies. Others weren't quite so lucky.

— Interstate 580 through Carson City, from the Spooner Junction at South Carson Street to Eastlake Blvd at the top of Lakeview Hill.
— U.S. Highway 50 from the Highway 395 junction at William Street to Deer Run Road in Carson City, and mile post 14 in Carson City to mile post 10.8 in Churchill County.
Road closures, travel restrictions on area roads Sunday morning
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Sun, 02/10/2019 - 9:59amHeavy snow fell overnight in the Carson City area, resulting in more chain and traction tire requirements on local roads.
Travel restrictions are currently in place Sunday morning for Interstate 580 from about the Washoe County line through Washoe Valley to mile post 15.0 in Washoe County.
Chains or snow tires also required for Old U.S. Highway 395 Alternate from the Bowers Mansion interchange to the SR 431/341 junction in South Reno, the Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) said.

Carson City emergency crews respond to vehicle rollover on Deer Run Road
Submitted by Brett Fisher on Sun, 02/03/2019 - 6:29pmCarson City Firefighter-Paramedics and Sheriff's deputies are on scene of a single-vehicle rollover accident on Deer Run Road near U.S. Highway 50 East in Carson City.
One 12 year-old victim has minor injuries, believed to be limited to lacerations. Two other occupants, both teenagers, appear unhurt at this time.
Traffic on Deer Run Road has been shut down while emergency crews work the accident.
The Nature Conservancy Introduces New River Fork Ranch Preserve Manager

“I’ve been working for The Nature Conservancy as a Restoration Technician at the McCarran Ranch Preserve on the Truckee River for nearly four years,” explains Leonard. “Now, I’m really looking forward to bringing my conservation skills and background to the beautiful Carson Valley. The buck raised himself up on his hind legs to reach fruit that was otherwise unreachable for his does and the younger Mule deer in his band.
And, together, the deer feasted.

Forest Service buys easement on Jacks Valley Ranch to protect environmentally sensitive land

The property is between National Forest system lands on the Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest’s Carson Ranger District and the Jacks Valley Wildlife Management Area.
