Nevada State Museum Presents Lecture, 'The Chinese in Nevada'

Dr. Sue Fawn Chung, the leading authority on the history of the Chinese in Nevada, presents a lecture on her new book of the same title, Thursday, September 22 at the Nevada State Museum. Dr. Chung will be available at 6:00 pm to sign her book, The Chinese in Nevada, recently published by Arcadia; the lecture will begin at 7:00 pm. The Chinese in Nevada boasts more than 200 vintage images and memories of days gone by. Professor Chung has been teaching at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, since 1975.

Dayton Valley Dog Park hosting 3rd annual flea market

The Dayton Valley Dog Park is hosting their 3rd annual flea market and crafts fair. Plan ahead and secure a space for a $10.00 donation for the August 20th event which will be held at the Dayton Valley Dog Park location at Dayton Valley Road and Como Road. Donations can be sent to Dayton Valley Dog Park, P.O Box 995, Dayton, Nevada 89403. We are also looking for "gently used" items to sell at the dog park booth. Sculptor Mischell Riley Donates Sculptures to Dayton School Garden

Dayton Intermediate School’s newly developing school garden will boast two large sculptures by internationally known sculptor Mischell Riley.

Riley, who is well known for work such as the 3-story high bronze lion at the MGM Grand Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, has donated two of her pieces to enhance the school’s garden landscape.

LOCAL SCOUTING DELIVERS FOR THE HOLIDAYS

DAYTON, NV – Pack 100 of Dayton Nevada collected several hundred pounds of food for the Dayton Food Pantry during their annual Scouting for Food event this week.

The boys of Pack 100 spent two weeks canvassing the Dayton and Mark Twain neighborhoods door to door seeking donations.

Carson City Silver Dollar Car Classic 2010 winners

Here are the 2010 winners of the Carson City Silver Dollar Car Classic held this weekend at Mills Park. The event brought hundreds of car enthusiasts to Carson City for the weekend before many moved on to Reno for the Hot August Nights celebration.

Among the winners, there were three speciality picks. These winners and the images of their cars will be featured on T-shirts and advertisements for next year's event. They are:
