Headed into Thursday, April 11, 2019 we welcome Carson City to another day where weather forecasters say there's a chance of rain and maybe even a few snow showers mixed in. Beyond the weather we're looking at a blockbuster day and night filled will activities throughout town. From library presentations, a TV show casting call at the Carson Nugget, an afternoon hike, to a train history presentation, a book signing at the Brewery Arts Center, a CHS theater performance and the Carson City movie screening premier of "The Mustang" filmed at the historic Nevada State Prison, there's something for everyone. We're looking at a steady flow of showers today, according to the National Weather Service with snow in the upper elevations of the Sierra. There is a Winter Weather Advisory until midnight for the west slope of the Sierra. Today in town we have events that range from a Carson High School team fundraiser to movies to politics to fitness. Enjoy your day.

Carson City Ward 2 Supervisor Brad Bonkowski will hold his monthly “Breakfast with Brad”, Friday, April 5, from 7 to 8 a.m. at the Cracker Box restaurant. Bonkowski hosts the morning get togethers as a way to get input from Carson City residents about issues and policies impacting the city.

Well the weekend sure went fast as we say goodbye to March. Now we're heading into Monday, April 1, 2019 where pranks, larks and tom foolery are orders of the day. No fooling when it comes to the weather though. We may see a slight chance of showers in the afternoon and evening with more of a chance of rain on Tuesday. Stay tuned.

The Carson City Library invites everyone in Carson City to participate in a community read of "Station Eleven" by Emily St. John Mandel for the library’s annual Capital City Reads program during the month of April.

Capital City Reads is Carson City Library’s annual city-wide book club sponsored by the Friends of the Carson City Library that brings people together through reading and discussion.

The third year of TedxCarson City brought discussions to the community, by the community, ranging in topics from exploring new sounds in classical music traditions, to computer hacking, to ending the cycle of poverty, and many more.

Since 1875 The Kentucky Derby has been a celebration of Southern culture and an icon of Americana. The Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada in Carson City has joined in on that celebration for 11 years making it one of the biggest fundraisers for the organization.

Nevada Film Office officials are heading to Los Angeles next week to pitch Nevada’s many iconic locations to executive-level film and television decision makers from Netflix, YouTube, Warner Brothers, Marvel Studios and others during AFCI Week.

On Tuesday, March 26, the Capital City Arts Initiative (CCAI) will present a public talk, "The Lilley", by the University of Nevada, Reno, curator Paul Baker Prindle.

The event is part of CCAI’s ongoing Nevada Neighbors speakers’ series and will take place at 6pm at the Brick, 108 E Proctor Street, Carson City.

Community members of Douglas County and Carson City, and even our neighbors in Washoe County, took to social media Monday discussing whether or not there was another homicide in Indian Hills, which, according to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong, did not occur. While there was a death that occurred inside one of the residences, there was no suspicion of foul play.

In the aftermath of the tragic four killings in our neighborhoods, it’s understandable to still be on high alert. A 19-year-old man residing in Carson City by the name of Wilbur Ernesto Martinez-Guzman was arrested in connection with the four crimes on Saturday.

However, conspiracy theories have begun to run rampant on social media that either it wasn’t Guzman, or that he didn’t act alone.
