On the docket today we have the first of the Levitt-AMP Concert Series at the Brewery Arts Center, a charity poker run, a street food fest, and more! Check below to see whats happening this weekend.

Thousands will pack Carson City venues during the Capital City Brewfest and Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series on Saturday, June 22.

Heading into the weekend, there's a bevy of events around the Carson City region that brings a cool breeze to the first three days of summer. The 16th Motor Officer Challenge kicks off Friday at 7 a.m. at Mills Park. Lace up the shoes for a Friday morning walk at East Silver Saddle Ranch hosted by Muscle Powered.

The Tahoe Symphony Orchestra, also known as TOCCATA, helps you celebrate the Fourth of July spirit with family and friends, close to home. Our 14th annual “BOPS” concert, conducted by Maestro James Rawie, is a delightful summer event that we perform at Carson Valley United Methodist Church in Gardnerville on Sunday, July 7 at 4 p.m.

The Capital City Community Band and the Mile High Jazz Band Association, in cooperation with Carson Middle School, will present a free Summer Showcase Band Concert on Sunday, June 23, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Brewery Arts Center’s outdoor stage at Minnesota and King streets in Carson City, the same stage used for the Levitt Amp concerts. Some seating is available, and the public is invited to bring chairs.

Good day Carson City and welcome to the last day of spring. Today is Thursday, June 20, 2019. Instead of hot weather, Mother Nature has decided to cool things down some as we head into the weekend with highs in the low 80s today and the low 70s for the first day of summer. Events, activities and more are lined up today including the first day of the three-day police officer motorcycle challenge at Mills Park, morning walks, Cruise Night at Empire Ranch Golf Course and live music outdoors at Living the Good Life.

Antsy McClain & the Trailer Park Troubadours will headline the fourth annual Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series at the Brewery Arts Center on Saturday, June 22.

My friend Laura who lives in Southern Oregon is the best vegetable and fruit gardener I know. She makes excellent compost from fresh horse and chicken manures, which she combines with green vegetable, fruit and kitchen waste. She then turns it with her tractor. The Levitt Amp Concert Series is fast becoming a Carson City tradition. The concert is voted on in a national competition by Carson City residents to have the concert funded by Levitt Amp, making it free for all concert goers.

When families come to the Ron Wood Family Resource Center in Carson City, they are typically in desperate conditions.

“We see 80 percent of our clients in the last couple of weeks of the month,” explained Joyce Buckingham, executive director. “They have reached the end of their SNAP benefits or their social security or other benefits.”

I’ve been noticing all the new seedlings coming up around the yard: Currants, Oregon grape, penstemons, sumacs, catmint, caryopteris, feverfew, hardy geranium and many more. I did not plant these; the birds did. The seeds spread in the wind or I accidentally spread seeds when deadheading.

With the weather reaching the mid-80s, now is the perfect time to get out and explore during a jam-packed three days around the Carson City region. Friday has plenty of events to get you to the weekend.

The Old West Trio returns to the Dangberg Home Ranch Historic Park this coming week in an evening concert, while two local musicians are featured at the park’s upcoming Neighbor Fair, an event highlighting Carson Valley’s non-profit organizations.

Several art and music events in Carson City on Friday, June 7 are perfectly timed so you can attend all three. Drop by for appetizers and see the "Translating Silver City" art show at City Hall from 3 to 4:30 p.m., then view Capital City Art Initiative's "New Crop 2019" exhibition and meet the artists over a glass of wine at the nearby reception at the Court House Gallery from 5 to 7 p.m. Finish the night with a free concert by Athena McIntyre at McFadden Plaza near The Fox Brewpub from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m.

The next Carson City Board of Supervisors meeting will be held Thursday, June 6, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.

The Carson City Symphony's 35th annual Pops Party concert will be held this Sunday, June 9, 2019 at the Capital Amphitheater, in the park between the Capitol and Legislature buildings.

The Carson City Symphony, lead by David Bugli, will be joined on the program by singer-songwriter Tom Miller and the Carson City Symphony Chorus, led by interim director Ricky Hutton.

A free Spring concert performed by The Capital City Community Band under the direction of Nick Jacques with Richard Doede, director Emeritus, got underway Sunday afternoon at the amphitheater in the Legislative Mall on Carson Street in Carson City.

Lace up your shoes for a morning walk at Riverview Park, and then head on over to the Nevada State Museum for a coin press demonstration, and tours that explore anthropology and Nevada history. Later there's a cruise night gathering at Carson Mall to benefit Safe Grad Night, an Italian dinner fundraiser at the Governor's Mansion to benefit Carson City's homeless, live music at Living the Good Life and A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, and much more. From May through November each year, Pure Prairie League hits the road, bringing music to communities big and small.

The Greenhouse Project welcomes them as they play the 11th annual Concert Under the Stars on July 10 at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Carson City, for a hit-driven evening that also includes bands Poco and Firefall.

Under the direction of Nick Jacques, the Capital City Community Band will perform its annual “FREE Spring Concert” Sunday, June 2nd, 2019 at 3:00pm, at the amphitheater in the Legislative Mall (in front of the Nevada Supreme Court) on Carson Street, Carson City, Nevada. The Brewery Arts Center is looking to enlist a few great volunteers to help this Saturday, June 1 clean up and beautify the two block campus as we prepare for the Levitt AMP Carson City free summer concert series presented by The Change Companies which begins on June 22 and Wheeled Food Wednesday which begins on June 19.

Georgia-based rock duo 2 Broke Kings will appear in concert at Carson Hot Springs as part of festivities at the July 13, 2019 Sassabration.

The 5th annual Sassabration celebrates diversity, community, equality. It will be held at Carson Hot Springs, Shoe Tree Brewery Company and Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint, 1500 Old Hot Springs Road in Carson City.

Epic Rides announced Tuesday that Keller Williams and the Hillbenders are the Saturday evening headlining act at the Four Peaks Brewing Concert Series during the Carson City Off-Road mountain bike event on June 28-30, 2019.
