Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties’ hosts monthly breakfast meetings on the second Thursday of each month at 9 a.m. Diverse groups and community volunteers gather to share news and to collaborate on system changes that improve access to affordable, local food and to health care, and that support community-based, sustainable economic development.

Healthy Communities Coalition’s Stand Tall member Cimberlin Andrus will speak about tobacco use awareness at the 10th Anniversary Celebration of the Nevada Clean Indoor Air Act at the Nevada Governor’s Mansion in Carson City on Dec. 8. Nine additional Stand Tall team members from Yerington, Fernley, Dayton and Silver Springs, and two of HCC’s certified community health workers, Kathy McIntosh and Tammy Sutton, will also attend.

Lyon County, Nevada – Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties recently welcomed ten AmeriCorps members who will serve communities throughout the Lyon County region during the 2016-2017 fiscal year. Christy McGill, director for Healthy Communities, explained that “all are Lyon County residents with a stellar history of volunteerism, selected due to their passion for helping others.”
