MASONIC CORNER STONE 150 YEAR REDEDICATION FOR U.S. MINT IN CARSON CITY SEPTEMBER 24, 2016 On September 24, 1866 at 2:00 pm, the Grand Lodge of Nevada, Free and Accepted Masons dedicated the laying of the cornerstone of the original U.S. Mint in Carson City, Nevada. Exactly 150 years later to the day and time, the Grand Lodge of Nevada, Free and Accepted Masons will rededicate that cornerstone at what is now the Nevada State Museum.

Families unite Saturday at Mills Park in Carson City for the first-ever Northern Nevada Family Fun Day, a community event featuring live music, workshops, shopping, raffles, a Kids Zone, giveaways, raffles and more.

There will be rock climbing demonstrations, face painting, pirates, obstacle courses, a bubble station, music, a photo booth, ice cream, refreshments beginning at 11 a.m. and running until to 9 p.m.

Community health service agencies and providers from around the area will be in one place Saturday, Aug. 6 during the second annual “Hand Up” Resource Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Mills Park Marv Teixeira Pavilion in Carson City.

This free community event is hosted by The Littlest Things a Carson City, a 501c3 non profit that creates free fun community events throughout the Carson Valley. This event will have s'mores, crafts and the miniature animal petting area. We will also have pony cart rides for a small donation. Click on the flier to enlarge.

The Carson City Mall hosted a booth Saturday put on by Delaney Mott that aims to help deployed soldiers feel they are not forgotten.

What once began as casual letter writing and card sending by mother and daughter to delayed troops has since grown to a community event with the help of Delaney.

Downtown Carson City will be crawling with holiday revelers as the first-ever Holiday Crawl benefiting the Holiday with a Hero program takes place tonight.

Tickets for the Holiday Crawl are available at local businesses, including Fingerprinting Express, Caterpillar’s Hookah Lounge, Westside Pour House, and Carson City Visitors Bureau; as well as Carson Fire Station 51, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office and Juvenile Probation. Attendees must be 21 and over.

This year’s Reno Rodeo Denim Drive runs November 9 through December 16. During this annual community event new jeans, new shirts, new socks, and new underwear are collected for abused and neglected infants, children and teens who have been rescued from unsafe homes in northern Nevada. A New Community Event! Triple Feature Movie Day, Part of the Reno Fall 2015 Spiritual Wellness Expo will be November 6, 2015, Reno Convention Center, Room A-19

The historic trains of the Nevada State Railroad Museum meet up with an old-fashioned pumpkin patch, artists and crafters that include Carson City Confections and Great Basin Woodcrafts and more this Saturday and Sunday at the Harvest Train Festival in Carson City. Trains run throughout the day from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Hymns and Homebrew is a a little bit church pot luck, a little bit pub-culture, and a little bit old fashioned hymn-sing. It's a chance to come as you are, and experience traditional hymns of the church in a new context, and maybe recapture some of the joy of the original composers. Musicians are invited to bring their instruments and join in; song sheets are provided.

We would like to invite the entire community to come out to Governor's Fields Friday night from 6-9pm. Carson City Pop Warner football and cheer will be holding its annual Friday Night Lights event. This is the leagues biggest fundraiser of the season.

This event helps keep costs down for next year and helps to keep a quality program running in our community. You do not have to be involved in Pop Warner to join in the fun! Wristbands will be sold at the gate for $5 per person.

Get your appetites ready and your tickets now as the 22nd annual Taste of Downtown Carson City will arrive this Saturday, June 20 with at least 40 restaurants on hand to dish up, flip, baste, slather and pour on their menu specialities for ticketholders.

After 12 years, the annual Carson City Sheriff's Office Cops and Kids open house Saturday was among the biggest yet, with dozens of families and hundreds of children taking part in games, contests and information events well into the late morning and into the afternoon.

The popular community event is aimed at children of all ages and their families as a way introduce public safety agencies, especially law enforcement, to them. The event is part family carnival without the rides, and part educational experience, where music, food, contests, songs and dancing are the orders of the day.

The 12th annual Carson City Sheriff's Office "Cops and Kids" Open House, billed as the "Safest Street Party in Carson City," will be this Saturday, May 16, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in front of the sheriff's office, 911 East Musser Street.

The free community event features, activities, ID kits for children, food, music, games and more. On hand will be the sheriff's office K9 dogs, motorcycle patrol unit, Special Enforcement Team, stellar squad, a new SWAT unit, representatives from DARE, and the Nevada Highway Patrol.

Tickets for Friday's inaugural Carson High School Father-Daughter Cinderella Ball, a fundraiser for CHS clubs, are on sale today, Wednesday, and tomorrow, Thursday, from 2:15 to 3 p.m. in the high school attendance office, said Anglia Golik, CHS teacher, organizer and Senator Square columnist.

Tickets will be also sold at the door. This community event open for fathers and girls of all ages is from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Friday night at Carson High School.

The 2015 EGGstravaganza is underway Saturday under blue skies at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center in Carson City. The event runs now through 3 p.m. at 1600 Medical Parkway. Expect food, fun, games and gifts, the Easter Bunny and plenty of eggs to collect at this free community event.

This community event is open to all ages of girls. One Princess from each elementary and middle school in the Carson City area will be crowned that evening, and one from a pre-school age group as well. There is no age limit for this event.

String players of all ages and levels are invited to join the seventh annual Christmas Carol Play-along this Friday, Dec. 19, from 4 to 5 p.m. inside Carson Mall. This free community event is hosted by Carson City Symphony Association and Carson Mall.

Violin, viola, cello, bass, and harp players are welcome to come and play. Bring your music stand. Everyone else, come and listen or sing along.
