Activities and events to round out this third Thursday of the month include a meet and greet of Carson City Library candidates at Adams Hub for Innovation, a day hike, a bicycle cruise on the west side of the capital city, a Lunch and Learn Workshop for local nonprofit organizations, a chamber luncheon focusing on mental health, a GOP meeting, art showings, live music and more. Union Carson cuts ribbon on new downtown restaurant venture

Although it has been serving customers since June, The Union Carson opened with little fan-fare until Thursday night when a ribbon-cutting and grand opening bash was held at 302 North Carson Street as a fundraising benefit for the Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada and The Greenhouse Project.

A new restaurant is opening in downtown Carson City, according to reports from the Reno Gazette-Journal and Nevada Appeal.

The Union — a partnership of Reno-based investors — is scheduled to open this summer at 302 North Carson Street, site of the old Lake Tahoe Brewing Company, which closed in January 2016 ahead of its owner Michael Candelario's arrest on fraud charges.

Dec. 4, 2015 was an even crazier day than normal at Dutch Bros. on Carson Street. The coffee house pledged to donate $1 for each beverage sold that day to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada. Total beverages sold that day resulted in a $1,300 check for the Clubs.

The New World Comes To Carson City with Reno local band CRUSH! plays at The Venue on Friday, March 29. CRUSH is the kind of music you will want to jump and throw your hands with singer and drummer Jimmy Dunn and 'Lose Control,' which is also a song off their 2012 debut album “First Crush.”

Known for their own self-production and original songwriter, the group's second studio album “New World” (2013) was produced by CRUSH’s own Daniel Sion, who also does the live computers, sound-board, synthesizer at live shows as well as sing and sometimes run the main sound-board for the whole show.

Memorial Saturday in Silver City for legendary broadcaster, hellraiser and satirist Travus T. Hipp

Services for legendary radio commentator Travus T. Hipp will be held this Saturday, May 26, in Silver City. Hipp died early Friday morning, May 18, at his Silver City home. He was 75, as old as the Golden Gate Bridge in his beloved San Francisco.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 26, in Silver City. Gathering, gnoshing and remembering will begin at the Silver City Community Center, 385 High Street, at 10:00 a.m. Food and refreshments will be provided. Those who wish may bring more.

Mile High Jazz Band Presents April Jazz Anniversary Concert
