New events center, potential casino sale could boost prospects for South Tahoe market

Eldorado Resorts CEO Thomas Reeg said the Reno-based company will need to sell at least one of the three casinos it will own in Tahoe once a $17.3 billion merger/buyout of Caesars Entertainment is completed early next year.
University of Nevada students to be housed in Circus Circus tower following July 5 dorm explosion
Submitted by Kelsey Penrose on Sat, 07/20/2019 - 12:09pmThe University of Nevada has announced that students who were set to be put up in the Argenta Dormitory at the Reno campus will now be relocated to a tower at Circus Circus following the July 5 explosion that destroyed a good amount of the building and left a handful of students with minor injuries.
In addition, the resident dining facility on the first floor of Argenta, in which all dormitory students with paid meal plans eat during the year for most meals, was also damaged and will remain closed for the next academic year.
RPD is investigating a body found in hotel room under 'suspicious circumstances'

According to the Reno Police Department, officers were dispatched to the casino around 2 a.m. to the report of a body being found in suspicious circumstances on the 19th floor of the hotel.

Join Muscle Powered and our Parks and Recreation Department at the Silver Saddle Ranch for a presentation and trash mob. Kids will love the Carnival at Bordewich Elementary School, and it helps raise funds for a local Cub Scout Pack. Mark Twain Elementary is hosting their annual Color Run at Mills Park, just make sure to wear a white shirt.

Festivities in Carson City begin Friday at Max Casino, formerly Carson Station, with a street dance, show and shine beginning at 6 p.m. The car show then moves to Mills Park for the weekend.

Well, it’s in Reno, but that isn’t too far of a drive for elephants, clowns, and cotton candy. Also in Reno, but intended for a slightly older audience, is the Lady Luck Tattoo and Art Expo, coincidentally held at Circus Circus.
For the outdoorsy-types you can join in the March to End Senior Hunger 5K in Dayton; the 5K Glow Run benefitting the Western Nevada College Softball Team; or join a ranger at Washoe Lake State Park for a guided hike.

Old-time radio drama meets 21st-century hip graphic novel on stage at UNR
Submitted by editor on Thu, 03/05/2015 - 4:49pmThe original idea for The Intergalactic Nemesis (a wacky live-action graphic novel performed on stage with simple scripts, a couple actors, some crazy noises), all started in a coffee shop in Austin, Texas.
It’s a whole lot bigger than that now: Enter a sound-effects genius, an emotion-wielding keyboardist, three actors voicing tons of wacky characters, with 1,200 vintage-cool illustrations projected over the stage, all telling the story like a 1930s radio play with decidedly 21st-century spins.

Students honor Cesar Chavez at UNR today

Fiesta Mexicana will dance and Sen. Moises Denis, D-Las Vegas, will speak.
"We are hosting this event because we want to honor Cesar Chavez and his contributions to civil rights," said student leader Carla Castedo, a senior psychology major.
