In charge of Ski Incline in the early days, Cappy Cook was a hail-fellow-well-met, on and off the slopes. He played in the Rose Bowl for Stanford in '52, ran a packing outfit in Yosemite, coached our Junior National Ski Team, and his handshake would leave me crippled for days, so of course I never ventured to give him a hug.

Events include the KTVN Share Your Christmas Food Drive at the Governor's Mansion in Carson City and at Minden's Carson Valley Inn, Homestead Holidays at the Silver Saddle Ranch and more. Nave, who has been with KRLT FM 93.9 as host of “Howie’s Morning Rush” at Lake Tahoe for nearly 15 years, will be inducted at the Four Seasons Hotel. He joins the ranks of more than 800 broadcasters from around Nevada who make up the Hall of Fame, celebrating its 20th year.
Fall Festival and Chili Cook Off

Admission is free to the event, and all attendees receive a free ticket for a door prize drawing. Vintage cars, a cake walk, vendors offering all manner of gift items, household furnishings, and personal care items will be available, as well as a number of drawing prizes.
Local authors and artists will participate, and the Lake Tahoe Humane Society, the Lake Tahoe Cancer League, and Christmas Cheer will be accepting donations.
Carson City sheriff's reserve tradition brings Christmas cheer to 86 families
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 12/25/2014 - 7:49amIt was the night before Christmas in the capital city which, for a brief time at least, threatened slick and snowy roads but instead brought rain showers as Santa made his way to 86 homes via patrol cars in a caravan led by the Carson City Sheriff's Office Reserve Organization.
In a tradition that spans nearly 30 years, a legion of sheriff’s office volunteers dressed as Santa and elves made pre-arranged home visits around Carson City, delivering mighty roars of “Merry Christmas,” candy canes and gifts for children.
