CASA Volunteer Recognition Dinner set for Friday
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 11/15/2012 - 8:38amThe annual Court Appointed Special Advocates Carson City Volunteer Recognition Dinner will be on Friday, from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Gold Dust West in the Pinon-Sage Room. Attire : Semi-Formal.
All CASA volunteers are admitted free plus 1 guest. All Non-CASA's and extra guests $30.00 per person
The price includes a full dinner and dessert with tea, coffee and non-alcoholic beverages. There will be a No-Host bar open from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. There will be a silent auction and raffle drawings for our floral center pieces.

Meet and Greet Fundraiser for Brad Bonkowski

The public is invited to come and meet Bonkowski and ask questions about the issues facing Carson City. A $20.00 donation includes appetizers and a margarita or beer.
Former candidate and School Board Trustee Stacie Wilke McChulloch will also be on hand to announce her endorsement of Bonkowski in the Ward 2 race.

Wilke-McChulloch ran in that race’s primary election, coming in third with 24 percent of the vote. Wilke-McChulloch says she is endorsing Bonkowski because he is the most open minded and approachable candidate.

CASA volunteers are appointed for to speak up for the best interest of children removed from their parents custody due to abuse or neglect. Being a CASA volunteer requires research, communication, patience and caring. It is rewarding and challenging. CASA volunteers make a difference for kids.

Sell times will be 12 noon till 7pm Saturday; 12 noon till 5 pm Sunday.

CASA Volunteer Training Begins

CASA volunteers are appointed by Carson City's Juvenile Court as guardian ad litem for children in child welfare court cases.
The CASA volunteer speaks up for the best interests of the child.
Being a CASA volunteer requires patience, caring, research, writing, good communication skills and a commitment.
There is a background check, an interview and 30 total hours of training.
