The weekend is at our doorstep as we head into Friday, May 10, 2019. Even though forecasters say we may have showers this weekend, the cool spring rain won't dampen the fun. We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

2019 Nevada Sharks softball fundraiser features beer and bräts at Carson City's Fuji Park

Join Nevada Sharks Fastpitch for the 2019 Nevada Sharks Fundraiser: Beer and Bräts at the Fuji Park Exhibit Hall in Carson City on Friday, May 10.

This is a 21-plus event with all you can eat and drink, music, a door prize, a silent auction, and raffles to include the raffle of a Henry Rifle this year. The event begins at 6 p.m.

2018 Nevada Day Parade Entries and Divisions Line Up Locations

Following are all of the entries for the 2018 Nevada Day Parade, to take place on Saturday, Oct. 27 starting at 10 a.m. The parade starts at North Carson and William streets, and ends at South Carson and Stewart streets. There are 215 entries in this year's parade.

January just kind of flew by, it seems every weekend had an extra day attached. Well, now that it’s February that means we’ve got a wine walk coming up this weekend. The big Patriots versus Eagles battle is just days away, as well, so you’ll want to visit a sports book if you plan on placing a few bets. Get some amazing views of our valley during the Muscle Powered Hike along the Ormsby Fire Road, behind the Nevada State Railroad Museum. Ev Musselman makes an appearance at the Feisty Goat Pub, bringing some music into the little hide-away tavern.

It may be April’s Fools Day, but the fun going on around town is no joke. Get your blood pumping with the Carson Canyon Half Marathon (or Half/Half Marathon if you want something shorter.) It’s Wine Walk weekend, and with the sunny day you have no reason to stay home. The Youth Theater Carson City Showstoppers want to ‘Give Our Regards to Broadway’ during their one weekend only production. There’s too much to mention in this short opening paragraph, so keep reading for all the great things our valley and sister valleys have to offer.

How adventurous are you? Ascent Runs continues their Be Bold, Run in the Cold Winter Trail Series with a five or ten kilometer run starting at Centennial Park. If you’d like a less strenuous outdoor activity, then the Downtown Business Association’s monthly Wine Walk is a perfect choice. The wine walk is a rain, snow, or shine event, so bring an umbrella. New community baseball league starts in Carson City

The San Francisco Giants have come to Carson City. A new youth community baseball program with the backing of a Major League Baseball club opened for sign-ups earlier this month in the Nevada state capital.

The Junior Giants community league, run by the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department, is sponsored by the San Francisco Giants Community Fund, a charitable outreach of the professional sports franchise.

    The annual Carson Girls Softball fundraiser for the Sharks Tournament Softball teams will be held on May 15th starting at 6PM at the Fuji Park Exhibition hall. For a $20.00 donation you will get all you can eat bratwurst and all you can drink beer! There will be a silent auction, raffle and door prizes from local business plus it’s a great time. All proceeds go to the Sharks tournament season and fund the program keeping the overall costs down for the girls in our community.

    Dirty Dozen Dominate the Dirt Divas in Carson Girls U10 Softball Action

    In the U10 girls softball 2nd/3rd place playoff game at Edmonds Field on Tuesday night, the the Carson Jeep Dodge Chrysler, Inc. Dirty dominated the Michael Hohl Motor Co./Shawn Nolan Painting Dirt Divas with a 15-2 victory. The Dirty Dozen earned a shot at the 1st place Ameriwade.com Krushinators in the title game scheduled Friday, May 31st at 6pm.

    As the Carson Girls Softball season heads into the final week, the Michael Hohl Motor Co./Shawn Nolan Painting Dirt Divas beat the CarsonTahoe Marine/Safe-At-Home Pet Sitting Royal Crush by a score of 19-11.

    Dirt Divas Split a Pair in U10 Carson Girls Softball Action

    The U10 Michael Hohl Motor Company/Shawn Nolan Painting Dirt Divas scored the winning run in the bottom of the 4th inning in girls softball action last Thursday night against the CarsonTahoe Marine/Safe-At-Home Pet Sitting Royal Crush by a score of 10-9.

    The Royal Crush pitching was handled by: Makenzie Valentine – 9 runs on 1 hit, 14walks and 3 strikeouts; and by Lexi Fox – 1 run on 1 hit, 1 walk and 1 strikeout. The Dirt Divas pitchers were: Jocelyn Foster – 8 runs on 5 hits, 8 walks and 6 strikeouts, and Shannen vonDuering – 1 run on no hits, 2 walks, and 3 strikeouts.

    The U10 Michael Hohl Motor Company/Shawn Nolan Painting Dirt Divas broke even in their last 2 games in Carson Girls softball at Edmonds Fields.

    They squeaked by the CarsonTahoe Marine/Stay-At-Home Pet Sitting Royal Crush by a score of 14-13 in softball action Monday April 30th at Edmonds Fields.

    The U10 Michael Hohl Motor Company/Shaw Nolan Painting Dirt Divas defeated the Dayton Family Custom Shower & Bath Crazy Devils in softball action at Edmonds Field on Thursday, April 25th in a close game by 11-7.

    Krushinators defeat Dirt Divas in U10 Girls Softball Action

    The U10 Ameriwade.com Krushintors kept their winning streak alive against the Michael Hohl Motor Company/Shaw Nolan Painting Dirt Divas in softball action at Edmonds Field on Saturday, April 20th with a decisive win 13-2.

    Opening Day Ceremonies for Carson Girls Softball started the 2013 season on a nice spring day, Saturday 4/13. In U10 league action at Edmonds Park, the Michael Hohl Motor Company/Shaw Nolan Painting Dirt Divas won over the Family Custom Shower & Bath Crazy Devils by a score of 8 to 1.

    Carson Girls U10 Softball – Pink Diamonds end season with a win

    In the final Carson Girls Fastpitch Softball U10 game, the Gilson Auto Body/Carson Nugget Twisters fell to the CarsonNow.org Pink Diamonds 20-13. The Pink Diamonds finish in second place with an 11-3 league record.

    The annual Carson Girls Softball fundraiser for the Sharks Tournament Softball teams will be held on May 18th for 6PM to 9PM at the Fuji Park Exhibition hall.     Carson Girls Softball – Tidal Waves vs. Pink Diamonds

    The first game of the season for these two U10 teams, was exciting. The final score was Tidal Waves 14, Pink Diamonds 9.

    For the Tidal Waves, Kailie Lushar pitched 3 fine innings, with 7 strike outs, 1 walk and allowing 2 runs.

    Top hitters were: Kailee Lushar (2), Maali DeLeon (1) and Kedre Lushar (1). Scoring runs were: Brigette Quintero (2), Kendal Moore (3), Kedre Lushar (2), Kailee Lushar (3), Maali DeLeon, Sydney Fields, Grace Foster and Jordan Sheppard.

    Carson Girls Softball is a non-profit organization committed to providing young ladies (ages 5 - 18) in the Carson City area the opportunity to play recreational fastpitch softball in an organized environment.
