Second COVID-19 death reported in Quad Counties during May 9 update

Quad-County Emergency Operations Center in Carson City is reporting Saturday, May 9, a second death due to COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. The individual was a male Carson City resident in his 60’s. It is unknown at this time if he had underlying conditions.

Nevada National Guard increases state’s testing capability; new sites in Carson City Quad area

The Nevada National Guard is set to begin setup of drive-through community based collection sites, beginning in Carson City and rotating to a number of mobile locations in the Quad County region of Douglas, Lyon and Storey counties.

Chris Giunchigliani endorses Patricia Ackerman for NV-02

Carson City, NV (May 4, 2020) - In a selfie video released yesterday, Chris Giunchigliani formally endorsed Patricia Ackerman for Nevada Congressional District 2. “Chris G.”, as she is known in Nevada Democratic circles, has been active in Nevada politics since she was elected to the Nevada Assembly in 1991. In 2006, Giunchigliani was elected to the Clark County Commission. She was also president at different points of the Clark County Education Association and Nevada State Education Association.

Quad-County COVID-19 Update: Three New Cases and Two Recoveries brings total cases to 75

(Carson City, NV)- Quad-County Emergency Operations Center (Quad EOC) is reporting three new positive cases and two additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 75, with 27 recoveries and one death, 47 cases remain active.

The new cases are:

A female Carson City resident in her 40’s
A female Lyon County resident in her 50’s
A female Douglas County resident in her 30’s

The Carson City Library will host a community read of My First Summer in the Sierra by John Muir for Capital City Reads, Carson City Library’s annual city-wide book club.

Capital City Reads takes place every April as a celebration of National Library Week, bringing people together through reading and discussion.

This year’s program starts with National Library Week on April 19 and will run through May 16.

Carson City Charter Review Committee seeks input

In response to Governor Sisolak’s mandate regarding COVID-19, Carson City Hall will be closed to the public beginning March 24, 2020. However, we will continue to serve our taxpayers by telephone, fax and email, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Carson City Justice, Municipal Court temporarily suspends all eviction proceedings

In response to the COVID-19 in our region and Gov. Steve Sisolak’s declaration of a state of emergency, closure of all non-essential services statewide, and request for all Nevadans to stay home to implement social distancing, the Carson City Justice, Municipal Court has suspended all eviction proceedings until further order of the court.

Nevada Rural RSVP responds to COVID-19 with help for seniors in 14 counties, Carson City

The Nevada Rural Counties RSVP Program (RSVP) has taken proactive steps and the necessary precautions to respond to the COVID-19 (novel Coronavirus) outbreak and support communities across its 15-county service region including Carson City. The most vulnerable among us rely on RSVP’s volunteer services. Given the increased risks for those we serve such as elders, veterans and adults with a disability, RSVP is limiting interaction between its volunteers and clients by shifting programs to meet the emergent needs of care recipients.
