Carson City Elks Lodge #2177

A free Fishing Derby sponsored by Carson City Elks Lodge # 2177 is open to children and will be held at Davis Creek Park, in Washoe County on Old Highway 395. Registration runs from 8:30 to 9 a.m.. Fishing runs from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Awards given to the biggest fish. The derby is followed by an 11:30 lunch with hot dogs, hamburgers and all the trimmings sodas, chips, free to everyone attending. Every child attending will get a prize!
Davis Creek Park is located 20 miles south of Reno. Take U.S. 395 south to the exit for State Route 429. The park is near Bowers Mansion.

Carson City Elks Lodge #2177 will host a benefit dinner for Herbert "Randy" Ostrander, who is undergoing serious chemo treatments for lung cancer. Call (775) 882-2177 for the time. Randy has been the lounge manager for many years and was instrumental in getting the game room added which has been his pride. He has had to resign his position as Tiler. It was a glorious time in the spirit of Old Glory. Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell welcomed the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West to Carson City Wednesday night.
The performance held at the Bob Boldrick Community Center was a solid smash and delighted the mostly senior audience, many of whom served in the military. The last time the full band was in Carson City was in the fall of 2006.
