CARSON CITY — The 10th annual Concert Under the Stars, A Benefit for the Greenhouse Project, takes place Wednesday, July 11 at Brewery Arts Center, featuring Rock & Roll Hall of Famer’s Jefferson Starship and Terrapin Crossroad’s house band, Midnight North.

Carpa Nevada, LLC and Downtown Coin in their third year of partnership have presented a check for $803 to Pets of The Homeless, a non-profit focused on feeding and providing emergency veterinary care to pets of the homeless.

The live auction has become an integral and fun part of every evening during Concert Under the Stars, A Benefit for The Greenhouse Project, presenting The Family Stone, Lydia Pense and Cold Blood, Wednesday, July 12 at Brewery Arts Center, Carson City.

According to Dr. David Jeremiah in his new book, Is This The End?, many of his friends in the literary world as well as personal acquaintances, are asking this question also: are we indeed reaching the end times here on this earth? How many stressful and horrific events have to take place before some one, some where, and at some time erupts into a non-reversible action which is going to bring about another non-reversible action? Is this where the world is headed? Where to find confidence and calm in the midst of world events? Whom do we trust? Where do we place our trust?

Western minds, Western eyes, and Western culture have difficulty accepting or even understanding what is happening to Israel today, especially with its Islamic neighbors. The utter significance of this piece of real estate seems remote and of little concern to so many. Even those who consider themselves "up to speed" with the news often neglect to read, digest, and think about the ancient history of this region of the world. Perhaps the most required reading material is that of the Bible, the world's most read book of all times. We can read from as many books, etc.

COURAGE? You often know it when you see it in action. You definitely feel it. It can be witnessed over time. The attitude is sometimes defined by patience and heart. Webster writes: "facing and dealing with anything recognized as dangerous, difficult, or painful, instead of withdrawing from it, the courage to do what one thinks is right such as in willingness to live by one's convictions." This story began a long time ago as a little six year old girl in northwest Ohio. Bonnie Zimmerman was in first grade with me and I loved her. She seemed vulnerable and in need of friendship support.

As I write this article, the Electoral College is deciding the route of the American Presidency and of Donald Trump as President-Elect. The Russian ambassador has been shot and killed in Turkey by a fanatic. Another European terrorist attack has taken place in Berlin, Germany, killing at least 12 people and wounding dozens of others during the Christmas shopping season. Back in Aleppo, Syria, the Assad government is finishing off the horrific killings of its own people as well as rescue helpers and hundreds of Christians — many of whom are women and children.

I lived within the world of Islam for 33+ years — both within the United States and in Iran. I only knew as much about Islam as the average American with a reasonably good education — which is to say, not much.

After three long years of producing Women to Women for television on Charter Network, Producer Jose Paz and his wife and show host Carol Paz decided to retire.

Or so she thought.

After a little time off and a much needed break, Carol is now back in a new and bold way. She has created a new website and she hosts magazine-style, in-depth personal interviews.

Scottsdale, Arizona-based book publisher Vigilante Publishing Group is publishing "Bonners’ Fairy," a novel by Carson City area resident Elizabeth Patterson.

The publishing house picked up the book series that had originally been self-published. Patterson, a Carson City Support Services Specialist, has penned a series of six children's fantasy and adventure books based around the mythical land known as Bonners' Fairy.

This is the second in a two part Women to Women series with Dr. Kent Gabriel. This is a hands-on program detailing the process of minor plastic skin surgery and a live demonstration with Heidi Nicol, a medical esthetician, of a deep cleansing facial. This week Women to Women features the first of a two-part series with Dr. Kent Gabriel. He invited us to shoot in his office to discuss many different aspects of plastic surgery including many non-invasive alternatives. This Week's edition of Women to Women is with Carol Green, captain of the North Lake Fire Protection District. She has 30 years of paramedic and fire fighting experience. Carol explains how came from California to Nevada with a call on her life to serve others.

She is highly trained for what she does in primarily a mans' world. Mrs. Green shares her personal side of how she balances children with her fire fighting husband and their professional lives together. Carol resides in Carson City. Nev.

This week's Women to Women Nevada is with Brenda Hungerford, a successful woman and business owner. Brenda grew up in Oregon on ranch property where she and her siblings explored the acres of wildlife and the world of ranch animals.

This week's guest on Women to Women is Dianne Hillard, director of admissions at Western Nevada College. Dianne is originally from California, but has resided in Carson City with her husband for nearly 30 years. She holds a B.A. in Psychology, and a M.A. in Counseling from the California State University in Chico.

This week's guest on Women to Women is Kame Masterson, owner of NSE High-Tech Anti Aging.

This week's episode of Women to Women features Charlene Bybee and Jill Dickman. Both women are representing different political offices for the Reno/Sparks area. Charlene flies for American Airlines and Jill runs a 30-year business with her husband in Reno.

The 150th episode of Women to Women features Mary Fischer of Carson City. She and her husband are the owners of the Cottonwood RV Park and have lived in Carson City for many years.

Mary was the President of "Gardeners Reclaiming our Waysides" (G.R.O.W.) she was instrumental in planning the landscaping and artwork along Carson City's overpasses and coordinating the historic art work along the freeway corridor with a Colorado artist.

This week's episode of Women to Womean features Stacy Woodbury. Stacy is the wife of Carson City District Attorney candidate Jason Woodbury.

Both of these women are business veterans as well as experienced in working with budgets. Karen will be running for re-election in November, while Lori will be running for the first time in an elected position.

This week’s Women to Women is with Diane Hansen, Chief Inspiration Officer of What Works Coaching, a coaching firm that has helped people worldwide with their businesses, careers, mindsets, and profit margins. The Texas native received her bachelor’s degree from California State University-San Bernardino College of Business and Public Administration respectively.
