Blowing dust off the Black Rock Playa and Carson Sink has prompted the National Weather Service to issue a Blowing Dust Advisory in effect until 7 p.m. Tuesday evening.

After much listening, discussion, and careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision not to build Black Rock City in 2020. Given the painful reality of COVID-19, one of the greatest global challenges of our lifetimes, we believe this is the right thing to do. Yes, we are heartbroken. We know you are too. In 2020 we need human connection and Immediacy more than ever. But public health and the well-being of our participants, staff, and neighbors in Nevada are our highest priorities.

The Carson City Farmers Market was quite the fresh success on Saturday located at 3rd and Curry St. An assortment of fresh-picked fruits and vegetables helped the hundreds in attendance kick-off a healthy summer diet.

The greatest day of the year is close at hand: Nevada Day. The day in which the capitol of Nevada, Carson City, practically shuts down to celebrate our statehood, which took place on October 31, 1864.

While the majority of the United States don’t celebrate their Statehood, those that do participate don’t have quite the same gusto for the celebration that Carson City does.

One person died early Sunday morning in a two vehicle crash involving a motorist driving the wrong way westbound in the eastbound lane on Interstate 80 at Patrick between Sparks and USA Parkway, according to the Nevada Highway Patrol.

RENO — The Nevada Highway Patrol Northern Command is partnering with the California Highway Patrol’s San Francisco Bay Area and Sacramento Divisions to participate in an Interstate 80 Initiative.

Nevada has a rich and storied history and the Nevada State Museum in Carson City is looking for volunteers who not only love the state’s history, but who want to share it with museum visitors of all ages as tour guides.

Note, there was a last-minute change in streets where the entries are supposed to line up that is different than the printed program. The change was made to accommodate some larger floats. BLACK ROCK CITY, Nev. — A man who broke through a safety perimeter and ran into a fire at Burning Man Saturday night has died, according to Nevada sheriff's officials.

Carson City Cooperative Extension is looking for youth interested in the the 4-H 2017 Summer Day Camp. The camp is a week of fun and educational activities designed around exploring Carson City and surrounding areas.
