A man who was stabbed after allegedly and possibly at random entered a Woodside Drive home late Saturday night has died, according to Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

In the chaos of jolting awake to the crunch of metal, Stacia Nepper was sure she saw her 2-year-old baby fly past her. She froze in panic.

A 30-year-old Carson City woman was arrested Sunday for suspicion of felony battery with a deadly weapon and misdemeanor domestic battery after she allegedly stabbed and slashed her boyfriend with a pair of scissors, a sheriff's deputy report states.

This year, Pershing County is celebrating its 100th birthday, becoming Nevada’s 17th and final county, and Nevada Day festivities in Carson City has been chosen as its Silver State celebration hub.

“We’re taking this opportunity to remind folks all around Nevada this is a statewide celebration,” said Ken Hamilton, Executive Director of Nevada Day. “Our goal is to get all the counties involved with the parade this year to help celebrate our statehood.”

A 21-year-old transient man was charged with 19 counts of violating conditions of bail release after calling a victim he was ordered to have no contact with a total of 19 times while in custody at the Carson City Jail.

There are only two more Saturdays until Christmas, and Santa Claus is back in Carson City again this weekend ahead of the big holiday.

A 52-year-old South Lake Tahoe man was arrested in the area of North Curry and West Spear streets for felony suspicion of third DUI, driving on a revoked license, and following too close, a Carson City sheriff's deputy said.

A 19-year-old Carson City man was sentenced Monday to life in prison for sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl on her birthday in May 2016.

Reno Aces mascot Archie’s 10th birthday party was spoiled Sunday when Las Vegas beat the stuffing out of his team.

The flying objects over the Biggest Little City were identified as baseballs launched by the 51’s, who sent the Aces out of town with a 15-6 defeat and their first series loss since July 3. The Aces are en route to New Orleans and won’t be back until Aug. 1.

The Nevada Day parade, with all of its corresponding events, is my favorite thing that Carson City has to offer. Normally, I would just have the complete listing of everything Saturday has to offer in my weekend event summary, but Parade Day offers a few challenges. Namely, there is just so much going on in downtown Carson City that creating a separate listing seems easiest for all of my readers. Whether it’s the bloody marys, the beard contest, or running into long-lost friends that gets you there, it's going to be a beautiful, sunny day.

CARSON CITY, Nevada — It’s a milestone birthday coming up this month for Carson City’s Glenn Lucky and the community will have the opportunity to take part in festivities honoring one of its favorite sons.

This last weekend was my birthday weekend. I followed none of my usual traditions, at least the way I usually do them. I went to a different retreat. I met new friends. I went to a different beach. The Marine Corps League Silver State Detachment #630 is celebrating the 240th birthday of the United States Marine Corps November 10 starting at 4:30 pm at the Westside Pour House, at the corner of Telegraph and Curry. St. Peter’s Episcopal Church won best wine walk stop last month and will have live music. Don’t forget to spend some time inside Westside Pour House: ARTistically INKlined pop-up gallery returns and proves that tattoo artists are first, and foremost, artists.

Thursday, May 8 was my birthday, and Elaine had arranged two unforgettable, secret surprises for me as a present.

Carson City, Nev. – In honor of Nevada’s 150th birthday, the Nevada Sesquicentennial Commission invites all elementary age children in Nevada to participate in choosing the design elements for the third Sesquicentennial medallion.

The medallion, third of four in the Sesquicentennial series being produced throughout the year, will feature the winning design elements as chosen by Nevada students. Votes must be submitted to Lt. Gov. Brian Krolicki’s office no later than Wednesday, April 30, 2014.

A Zephyr Cove man was arrested Sunday and faces a felony charge of third offense driving under the influence after being stopped by Carson City sheriff's patrol officers.

Christopher James Thompson, 33, was arrested in the 2500 block of South Carson Street at 2:50 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 20. Thompson was stopped for failure to maintain a single lane of traffic, the arrest report states.

Spherion Staffing in Carson City is celebrating its 20th anniversary with a birthday party, with the local business community invited for coffee and cake.

Locally owned and operated, Spherion is a temporary staffing company located at 725 Basque Way suite 3 in North Carson City near Villa Basque and Walmart. The anniversary celebration is on Oct. 3 beginning at 4 p.m.

A 1,000 ounce bar of silver mined from 4,000 tons of Nevada ore is a rarity by far, but visitors to the Nevada State Museum in Carson City can catch a glimpse of the spectacular ingot now on display in preparation for the state’s 150th birthday party.

Site of the historic U.S. Mint, the museum still operates the original Coin Press No. 1 on the last Friday of each month. When the bar is melted into 1000 1-ounce round medallions, the celebrated press will stamp commemorative editions, with the “CC” mint mark, honoring the state’s sesquicentennial which is Nevada Day, 2014.
