Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association hosts HUMONGOUS RUMMAGE SALE

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association have cleaned out their closets, kitchens, garages and storage units and looking forward to a successful HUMONGOUS Garage Sale. The funds will be used to help our local veterans of the community.

Carson City area road report for the week of Sept. 5-11: Carson Street downtown to close for paving

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Sept. 5-11, 2016. Work will continue on the Downtown Corridor improvement project on Carson Street with paving ahead of schedule. The following roads will be impacted.

Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association - Sierra Tahoe Unit #137 Present Sea Cadets with Check

The Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association, Sierra-Tahoe Unit #137 presented a check to the Carson City Sea Cadets in the amount of $350 to Catheryne Sainz, Commanding Officer, USNCCSC. The money was donated throughout the year by the membership to their President’s Project, Jan Solberg, Jr. Past President and Brenda Horton, President.

Ladies Auxiliary of the Fleet Reserve Association - Sierra Tahoe Unit #137 Celebrate Members

The Fleet Reserve Association-Sierra Tahoe Branch #137 held their annual Independence Day Picnic on July 2, 2016. During the event, the Past Presidents were recognized for their dedication and achievements during their tenure. In addition, the Ladies Auxiliary also recognized their members with 5 or more years of service. One of the members, Mercedes Dunham, having 35 years of membership, was unable to attend. Brenda Horton, President and Joyce Jackson, Secretary surprised her at home on July 8th and presented her with the 35 year membership pin. Needless to say it was a happy occasion.

I-580 Washoe Valley lane closures begin Friday night for NDOT repaving project

Weekend lane closures will take place beginning Friday, May 13 on Interstate 580 through Washoe Valley as the Nevada Department of Transportation continues a project to repave the aging roadway surface.

Northbound I-580 will be reduced to a single lane from 7 p.m. Friday, May 13 to 5 a.m. Monday, May 16 between the exit 50 Bowers Mansion interchange and the I-580/North Carson Street interchange for paving.

Train enthusiasts and history lovers took a ride on the Virginia and Truckee Railroad on Saturday. Train riders were helping to raise money for Carson Tahoe Health Auxiliary.

Nevada participates in Spring Aboard national boating safety and education campaign

During the week of April 17-23, the Nevada Department of Wildlife is joining a nationwide effort created by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators to promote boating education. Developed by NASBLA, and produced under a grant administered by the U.S. Coast Guard, the Spring Aboard campaign brings together state, federal and nonprofit partners to encourage boaters to enroll in a boating education course before boating season kicks off.

Periodic ramp closures continue from Alt. 395 to North Carson City

Motorists are being reminded of ramp closures as the Nevada Department of Transportation continues construction of an auxiliary merge lane from Alternative U.S. 395/Eastlake Boulevard to southbound I-580 in north Carson City.

Carson City area road report for week of March 7-13; downtown project begins

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of March 7-13, 2016: Beginning Monday, March 7, work will begin on the downtown corridor improvement project on Carson Street.

This week, traffic will be reduced to one lane each direction. On Monday, March 7 and Tuesday, March 8, north and southbound traffic will be diverted to the northbound side road. As work progresses, crews may be in the right lanes each direction.

I-580 Bellevue Road overpass temporarily closes for seismic bridge improvements

Beginning Wednesday, the 48-year-old Bellevue Road bridge over Interstate 580 north of Carson City in Washoe Valley is temporarily closed for $15 million worth of seismic retrofit work and enhancements, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation.

Now, as you travel to your holiday destinations to spend time with loved ones and friends, I ask that you take some time to consider what I have written about. Arriving safely should be your number one priority.

Carson City area road report for the week of Dec. 21-27

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Dec. 21-27, 2015: The Nevada Department of Transportation will continue work on the construction of an auxiliary lane on southbound I-580 from the Eastlake Boulevard interchange to the N. Carson Street off-ramp. There will be nightly lane closures from 7 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. beginning Sunday evening through Wednesday morning.

Carson City area road report: December 14 to 20

Beginning Monday, December 14, there will be intermittent lane closures on Carson Street throughout the week due to utility work as part of the Downtown Carson project.  In addition, Third Street will be temporarily closed to through traffic between Carson and Curry Streets for a brief time period.  Detours will be signed.

Here is the Carson City area road report for the week of Nov. 23-29: NDOT will begin construction work Sunday night on the auxiliary lane of southbound I-580 from the Eastlake Boulevard interchange to the N. Carson Street off-ramp. There will be nightly lane closures from 8 p.m. to 5:30 a.m. through Wednesday morning, Nov. 25.

Construction begins on auxiliary I-580 merge lane in North Carson City

The Nevada Department of Transportation will begin construction of an auxiliary merge lane from Alternative U.S. 395/Eastlake Boulevard to southbound I-580 in north Carson City. The work is part of a project to repave the aging roadway surface, seismically retrofit bridges and make other improvements on Interstate 580 in Washoe Valley.
