Arts, Wine, and Music Festival

This two-day event will take place Saturday July 11 and Sunday July 12 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and feature wine tasting from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. for $25 each day.
Attention Artisans, Crafters and Cat-Lovers Needed

We will feature cat-tested and cat-approved items such as scratching posts, toys, beds, collars, etc. We also plan to carry unique cat-related clothing items, crafts, etc.. We would love to support local community-based artisans and crafters as much as possible in our store. If you make sale-able cat related items and would like to sell them at Catmandu, please contact Linda at 297-3419.

Every week, I create a list of the fun stuff and events going on around the Carson City area for my Facebook page, I love Carson City. I follow the pages of local businesses and organizations, search website calendars, keep my ear to the ground, and compile a list of anything and everything going on in this community.

Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Tue, 12/02/2014 - 2:58amSince joining the Brewery Arts Center a month ago, I've had the pleasure of enjoying some memorable performances at the Maize Harris Jesse Black Box Theater. It left me wondering what took me so long to get on the BAC bandwagon.
First there were the haunting Celtic airs of kilted bagpipe player Sean Cummings, accompanied by harpist Anne Roos.
St. Mary's Art Center in Virginia City to host Dec. 6 Art Faire on the Comstock
Submitted by editor on Sat, 11/29/2014 - 3:27pmThe region's finest Nevada-made art will be featured Saturday, Dec. 6 at St. Mary’s Art Center in Virginia City with its first Artists and Artisans Art Faire on the Comstock.
Not only will all galleries be filled with art, the entire building will be full of local artists and creative folk from all over the Comstock region, showing and selling their work. The faire will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The art works range in style, medium, size and price from $5 to $8,000, so there will be something for everyone’s holiday shopping budget.
Nevada 150 events lined up through the end of October

These Nevada 150 events celebrate all things Nevada and help bring awareness to the 150th Anniversary of Statehood. The following events are held Oct. 16 through 30. Highlights of statewide Nevada Day weekend events are forthcoming.
On Friday Oct. 17, come watch the Nevada 150 Pony Express Delivery, on the south steps of the Nevada State Capitol Building in Carson City at 3:30 p.m.
It's Wine Walk Saturday in Carson City

Today's wine walk is going to be the best yet with Rice Street on the north end of downtown offering a shop local street faire. Vendors, Crafters, and artisans will be set up in the streets.
The Brewery Arts Center will be having street performers throughout the wine walk, and many of the shops will be having end of summer clearances. Make sure to get your tickets and bring a friend.

As many of you may have heard a favorite, downtown restaurant, Sassafras is being forced to relocate. The word spread throughout our community and one question was being asked “how can we help?”
I had a chance to attend a meeting of volunteers from the community to help organize a benefit to help Save our Sassafras. I then asked Owner, Scott Owen Doerr, what he wanted people to know. This is what he had to say:

Charity fundraiser at Touched by Angels

Brewery Arts Center unveils fall education class catalog
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Wed, 08/14/2013 - 2:14pmAs the only full service cultural arts council in the region, the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City provides programs, including performances, exhibit opportunities, art retail services, and cable access television productions. The BAC supports artists, arts organizations and community audiences, providing services across a four county region including Carson, Story, Douglas and Lyon.
The BAC campus is housed on two city blocks and hosts two performance spaces, a community ballroom, three arts classrooms, a gallery, Artisans Store, cafe and media center.

Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 07/16/2012 - 1:55pmSpend Labor Day Weekend in South Lake Tahoe sampling the best food, wine, and art in the Sierra Nevada Region. The 3rd annual Sample the Sierra farm-to-fork festival will take place on Sunday, Sept. 2 on Ski Run Boulevard.
This year, 15 local restaurants and farmers will be paired together to produce mouthwatering samples for festival-goers to enjoy. Each food sample will be paired with an accompanying wine, also local to the region.

While the BAC is open to other artists and arts organizations, as well as the general public for collaborations and to rent their facilities, a resident status may be offered to organizations who demonstrate sound business practices, financial strength, the ability to fill seats and, above all, artistic prowess. Both organizations will retain their independence and tax exempt, nonprofit status.
