Nevada Humanities Announces Nature-Themed Books for 2021 Nevada Reads Program

January 14, 2021 - 12:00pm Nevada Humanities has announced the book selections for its statewide 2021 Nevada Reads program. Nevada Reads will feature two memoirs — Miracle Country: A Memoir by Kendra Atleework, and World of Wonders: In Praise of Fireflies, Whale Sharks, and Other Astonishments by Aimee Nezhukumatathil.

December 3, 2016 - 2:30pm David Lee's 23rd book, "Bluebonnets, Firewheels, and Brown-Eyed Susans, Or, Poems New and Used from the Bandera Rag and Bone Shop," was published recently. He's been on tour, reading and teaching at the Cliff Notes Writing Conference in Utah and at poetry festivals in Ohio, among others.
Sierra Nevada College opens Poetry Center

March 28, 2014 - 5:30pm At Sierra Nevada College's new Poetry Center grand opening event March 28-29, 2014, the college will be hosting Poet Laureate of California Juan Felipe Herrera and award-winning poet Jane Hirshfield for public readings and workshops. Reception at 5:30pm in Prim Library on the campus, readings at 6:45pm. Jane Hirshfield and Patricia Smith will hold workshops on Saturday morning. Open Mic on Saturday night.
UNR's Black Rock Press Publishes Poetry Book by Local Teacher

June 11, 2013 - 7:30pm Minden resident Krista Lukas has published her debut poetry collection "Fans of My Unconscious." She will read from her collection at two venues in June: the Mile High Jazz Band’s Jazz and Poetry event at Comma Coffee in Carson City on June 11, 7:30 p.m., and the Ventana Sierra Advanced Writers Conference at Western Nevada College in Carson City on June 14 at 6:30 p.m.
The book is published by The Black Rock Press, University of Nevada, Reno, 2013.
