Ag Day

Carson City students learn about livestock and more at Empire Elementary Ag Day

Thursday was Agriculture Day at Empire Elementary School in Carson City. Woody Worthington, president of the Carson and Douglas County Farm Bureau, helped coordinate with the Nevada Department of Agriculture and several local agencies to provide the experience for students.

The weekend has arrived and there are festivals everywhere. A Basque Festival and Picnic can be found in Gardnerville. Bowers Mansion hosts a Bluegrass Festival for the 31st year. The first ever Carson Valley Ag Day will be held Saturday at Lampe Park in Gardnerville. This free, family friendly event celebrates the region’s rich agricultural history and provides the community a good understanding of where food, fuel and fiber comes from, how it’s grown and who the local people are making it happen.
