Submitted by Jeff Munson on Thu, 01/10/2019 - 11:22amHello fellow anglers, Fishing at Topaz Lake is off to a good start for 2019. The weather cooperated, with the only drawback was that the morning temperature on Jan. 1 was 9 degrees at 6:30 a.m. But warmed up to a nice 38 for a high.

The trees and aspen "quakies" in Alpine County have now peaked. Another place to enjoy the fall colors would be at Taylor Creek on Emerald Bay Road near South Lake Tahoe.

The aspens in the Hope Valley area have started to show their true colors. Days are shorter and the water temperatures have cooled considerably. Which means the fish will start to feed again.

Girl Scout Day at the 2018 Great Reno Balloon Race

Girls will meet balloon pilots, help clean the park, and join other Girl Scouts from across their council. Everyone is welcome to join the fun including family, friends, and not-yet Girl Scouts. And yes – this is a free event!

If you’ve got little ones at home, consider a trip to the Children’s Museum of Northern Nevada; there are many fun, interactive exhibits, in addition to today’s Storytime Adventure activity.
