Carson Middle School teacher accused of striking student to return to class
A Carson Middle School teacher, who has been accused of slapping a student in the back of the head, will return to school Thursday.
Two parents saw something on a social media group that said the teacher would be returning to school on Thursday and contacted Carson Now.
A Carson City School District spokesman said Wednesday that “personnel matters are confidential and will not be discussed publicly. The matter inquired about is under investigation. The district is committed to ensure a safe working and learning environment for all students and staff. All necessary steps will be taken to impose appropriate responses to any allegations, if found to be true.”
Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong said the sheriff's office was involved in an investigation, a report by the parent was filed regarding the incident, and that the matter was directed to the Carson City District Attorney's Office for review.
Carson City District Attorney Jason Woodbury said Wednesday that the matter is still under review and his office continues to gathering information. Once that information is gathered, they will make a decision on whether to formally charge the teacher.
