An unsung hero of Carson City

Event Date:
December 25, 2015 (All day)

This is a picture of an unsung hero of Carson City, though few know of him. No, it's not really Santa under a rainbow but it is a picture of a simple hard working business owner who, like countless other business owners, makes this city work as part of the free enterprise system. This man is out before dawn cleaning and preparing the property where he runs his business and is still at work long after dark every day throughout the year. Then at Christmas he dons a Santa suit and provides free Christmas Trees to Church groups and some less fortunate Carson City residents who cannot afford to buy a tree.

Would you be surprised to know that his hard work is opposed by city bureaucrats and humbug competitors alike? Sometimes it seems that no good deed goes unpunished. Small business owners like this are an endangered species in an America where socialists like President Obama squander trillions of tax dollars then tell business owners; “You didn't build that.” The only thing Obama knows how to build is a twenty trillion dollar pile of debt that our great grandchildren will still be paying. Our neighboring governor Moonbeam and our own Sandoval share the same commietarded philosophy as socialist and RINO Spend Tax and Borrow (STaB) comrades in theft. The Gi Collaboration along with all free enterprise advocates oppose STaB economics because it is unsustainable and always fails.

The unsung hero Santa in this picture is known as Evergreen Gene. In recognition of his service as a business owner, The Gi Collaboration, a free enterprise business group in Carson City, has awarded Evergreen Gene with a Beautiful City Award with a certificate of Appreciation “for making Carson City free enterprise bloom.” Evergreen Gene's owner has shown outstanding effort in keeping the property and business area clean and beautiful while many properties throughout our city are suffering from deferred maintenance and minimal upkeep due to the socialist economic recession. This is especially true for the properties on the North end of Carson City that have been hit hardest by the prolonged economic experiment. In spite of the many difficulties, both economic and bureaucratic, Evergreen Gene has exemplified the Christmas spirit by giving away over a dozen Christmas trees this year to church organizations and families that cannot afford to purchase one. Each year at this time, for the last several years, Evergreen Gene has lived the personification of the American dream for our city and our community as a champion of the free enterprise system that built America.

Unlike some beautification proposals in Carson City that cost millions, no public taxpayer money was utilized which demonstrates a better alternative for City government. The Gi Collaboration believes that city government should limit its mandate to beautify our city and allow businesses to do more in this regard. City government should concentrate our limited tax dollars to do only those things which we cannot do for ourselves. Anyone can beautify a business if not prevented by the city's municipal codes and their bureaucratic employees who often attempt to dictate rather than cooperate.

It should be noted that Evergreen Gene has spent tens of thousands of dollars and most of his hard earned profits to convince recalcitrant city building and planning officials to allow such common sense measures to improve our city incrementally by reestablishing the free enterprise system and natural organic growth here in Carson City. Because of the costs imposed by the city for special use permits, many businesses in Carson have simply closed their doors and property owners have shuttered commercial properties all over Carson city. This award represents a radical departure from the centrally planned city proposals of late that require extravagant application of ever increasing; spending, taxes and borrowing (STaB) while ignoring the continuing long term liabilities of maintenance costs associated with each public proposal. By granting this award the Gi Collaboration hopes to stimulate thought among the building and planning bureaucrats that misapply municipal codes meant only for health and safety to improperly dictate every micro decision for every business property in our city. Cities designed by central planning bureaucrats fail because a city is a growing organic system that requires the kind of careful gardening heroically demonstrated by Green Gene's business.
