Carson Library Refuses to Answer Simple Question
While watching the Giants' baseball game last night, I searched for an alternative during a commercial break.
Tuning into the local public access station, I saw the Carson City Library Board meeting in progress. Perhaps what would be said could help clarify the debate about building a new library.
I was taken aback when the library director, Sara Jones, refused to answer an audience question about the status of roof repairs. She deferred to the chairwoman of the meeting, Sandy Foley, who said "We will take that under consideration." Why not just answer a legitimate question rather than ignoring it?
Wow, if this snapshot is any indication of how the public library is operated, Carson City needs to make some changes in its Library Board and library management.
What a pathetic example of no transparency and a dismissive attitude toward the public it is supposed to serve. Such behavior raises suspicion about the motives of government officials who believe in their own self-importance to the exclusion of all other considerations, such as serving the public.
