Free Outdoor Youth Expo a Huge Success
This past Saturday close to 200 youth and their families came out for one of the largest free youth outdoor expos in the area.
This is the first year that the Wild Sheep Foundation and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation combined their efforts to make one, huge event. It took place at Capital City Gun Club off of Arrowhead Drive in Carson City.
Bringing in 30 different outdoor organizations, there was something for everyone. Activities included metal detecting, gold panning, shooting trap and skeet, target archery, trap archery (shooting discs out off the air with arrows), wildlife conservation, duck calling, mineral identification, camping, and many more.
It was fantastic to see so many outdoor groups come together with the simple goal of exciting and inspiring the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts. In addition to the educational stations that youth spent the morning rotating through with their families, a free youth raffle and live auction took place after the free lunch. Next year's event is already in the making. The date will probably be moved into June, so keep your eye out for more information in late spring.
