My neighbor Patrick Mobley has an open house once a year to display his model railroad layout. The announcement on Facebook says the display is titled "Great Basin and Sierra." It models the high Nevada desert, Sierra and the California foothill trains. Here are some photos taken Sunday morning.

Carson City Emblem Club No. 507 will host an American Craft Fair and "Secondhand Lil" on Friday, Nov. 4, from 1 to 5 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 5 from 1 to 5 p.m.

The Carson Water Subconservancy District, a multi-county and bi-state agency promoting cooperative action in the Carson River Watershed, has launched its October Watershed Moment public service announcement (PSA), “Pitch In,” which highlights how trash and recycling habits in Nevada impact our environment and the health of the Carson River Watershed.

University of Nevada, Reno Extension is holding a beginning beekeeping workshop for new beekeepers and beekeepers looking to hone their skills. The two-day workshop will be held Feb. 18, 6 to 8:45 p.m., and Feb. 19, 8 a.m., to 4:45 p.m. at Fuji Park, 601 Old Clear Creek Road in Carson City.

COVID-19 shut down access to most U.S. prisons, including the  Lovelock Correctional Center located in Lovelock, Nevada,  where  Joe Arceo of Carson City volunteers with a group of Jehovah’s Witness ministers. Without warning, inmates were cut off from a robust Bible education program that included weekly Bible-based discourses, audience discussions, individual Bible studies and video presentations.

Carson City Elks Lodge No. 2177 is hosting a fundraiser tea to benefit the Holiday with a Hero organization this Saturday Oct. 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Nevada Room at the Governor's Mansion.
