Carson City Open Space Advisory Committee does not act on Buzzy Ranch bank restoration project
Submitted by Jaedyn Young on Sun, 02/25/2024 - 5:19pmThe Carson City Open Space Advisory Committee (OSAC) did not take action on the bank stabilization project along the Carson River at Buzzy’s Ranch.
The city purchased the land that consisted of just under 500 acres in 2007 and 2010. Before the city purchased the area, a bioengineering plan was put forward to fix the erosion but it failed. A trail along the eastern boundary of the property was installed in 2020 and a consultant told Open Space that the distance between the trail and the river was expected to be sufficient.

PUCN's plan for Nevada's annual leak surveys improves gas pipeline safety
Submitted by Jaedyn Young on Sun, 02/25/2024 - 12:08pmCarson City, Nev. — New pipeline safety regulations that the Public Utilities Commission of Nevada approved in 2021 have significantly increased the detection of gas pipeline leaks and improved pipeline safety.
Nevada was the first state to require annual leak surveys.

Carson High debate team brings home the trophies at final league competition; state tourney next

Carson City Symphony to begin rehearsals Feb. 28 for "We Got Rhythm" concert

The Carson City Symphony, conducted by Music Director David Bugli and Assistant Conductor Brian Fox, will begin rehearsals for their April 28 concert on Wednesday, Feb. 28, from 6:20 to 8:30 p.m., at the Carson High School band/orchestra room, 1111 N. Saliman Road in Carson City.
