Here is this week's road report for the week of March 27 to April 2, 2023. Closures are expected at the following locations, depending on the weather, due to road and utility work:
State Route 208 Lyon County in Wilson Canyon to close Monday for roadway repaving

CARSON CITY — State Route 208 will be closed to traffic through the Wilson Canyon on Monday, March 27 as crews place permanent roadway paving as the last phase of major landslide repairs.
Visiting Artists Demonstrate Techniques April 2 at East Fork Gallery in Gardnerville

April 2, 2023 - 11:00am Two visiting artists will demonstrate their art forms and raffle four pieces of their work during the reception April 2, 11 to 3, in Gardnerville. Their work will be at the gallery all during April for the Spring Spruce Up event.
Carson City Parks and Rec, Pioneer Center partner to offer free performances for youth

The Carson City Parks, Recreation & Open Space Department is partnering with the Pioneer Center for the Performing Arts to bring a free educational performance series to the Carson City Community Center.
Murder victim identified in Hard Rock shooting at Tahoe, suspect in custody

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) held a press conference a short time ago to provide updates on today's shooting at the Hard Rock Hotel in Stateline, Nev. According to DCSO Sheriff Dan Coverly, his department was called to the hotel just after 8 a.m. on a report of an active shooter.

UPDATE 9:59 a.m.: After nearby Dotty's asked if they could open for business, it was confirmed that nearby businesses could open; however, guests of the Hard Rock are being told to continue sheltering in place until law enforcement can finish sweeping the building.
Law enforcement pulled over a white Toyota 4-Runner with two occupants on US50 west of Sierra-at-Tahoe which is believed to contain the suspect.
UPDATE 9:39 a.m.: Additional SWAT units from Carson are inbound. SR338 to Stateline remains closed.
Lake Tahoe Community College proposed dormitory approved

During its meeting on Wednesday, the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) Governing Board unanimously approved a 33-room, 100-bed dormitory for Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) in South Lake Tahoe.
The dorms will be deed-restricted for low-income LTCC students from the Lake Tahoe region and California only. The target date for opening is July 1, 2025.

Are you lonesome for a furry feline friend, or better yet, two? Meet Sakka and Katarra, a sweet bonded pair of young girl kitties. This dynamic duo is composed of 1-year old Sakka, a short-haired black female; and Katarra, a one-and-a-half-year-old long haired brown tabby. While they are both sweet and social, they have their own unique personalities and preferences.
Nevada Health Link: Explore health insurance options for those losing Medicaid benefits in Nevada

Starting April 1, all Nevadans on Medicaid will start to have their accounts redetermined on an annual basis for the first time since before the COVID-19 pandemic, causing many Nevadans to potentially lose their health care coverage. Nevada Health Link is helping to coordinate the transfer of qualifying applications to NevadaHealthLink.com to ensure Nevadans stay covered.
