Monday's Democratic luncheon will feature a presentation by David Bugli, conductor of the Carson City Symphony and leader of the Mile High Jazz Band, which he founded in 1998. He is also Secretary and past President of the Foundation for Carson City Parks and Recreation and Secretary of the Carson City Historical Society.

What a week it was Carson City, and it isn't even over yet. Heading into Friday, May 3, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. Zephyrus Brass Quintet will perform in the Expresso Yourself Café at the Brewery Arts Center Ballroom, 449 W King Street, Carson City, on Saturday, May 4, from 2 to 4 p.m. The live music is part of the Carson City Downtown Business Association Wine Walk, to be held that day from 1 to 5 p.m.

How adventurous are you? Ascent Runs continues their Be Bold, Run in the Cold Winter Trail Series with a five or ten kilometer run starting at Centennial Park. If you’d like a less strenuous outdoor activity, then the Downtown Business Association’s monthly Wine Walk is a perfect choice. The wine walk is a rain, snow, or shine event, so bring an umbrella. Let’s just call this Nevad-oween weekend. So much crazy fun awaits: whether it’s the celebration of our ‘new’ downtown, Halloween parties for kids and adults alike, or our State Museum’s 75th Anniversary. Start your day at the Museum, hang around for the downtown ribbon cutting and festivities, then join in the costumed fun as Blinky Man hits the streets. Do the time warp at the Brewery Arts Center: the Rocky Horror Picture Show Party starts at 8:30 p.m. This is going to be one amazing weekend, so let’s get this party started.

Zephyrus Brass Quintet will perform a free concert at the Nevada State Museum, 600 N. Carson Street, Carson City, on Friday, October 28, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

In recognition of the 75th anniversary of the Nevada State Museum, Carson City, the public is encouraged and cordially invited to attend a day of honor filled with special events, Friday, Oct.28, from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Admission is free.

Okay all you procrastinators, if you planned on making it to the Arlington Square Ice Rink, then today is your last chance. With a temperature around 50, it should be a perfect day to skate one last time. Show some Senator Pride tonight at the Community Center as 24 seniors compete for ‘Mr. Carson High.’ There’s a lot going on this weekend, so take a look at the list and go have some fun.

SATURDAY:

Join your friends and neighbors downtown as more than 30 shops, restaurants, businesses, and organizations stock up on wine and goodies and throw open their doors for the Downtown Business Association Wine Walk. Valentine’s Day is just a week away, and this is the perfect opportunity to find a one of a kind gift for your one of a kind sweetheart. The day is predicted to be sunny around 50 degrees, so it won’t be anything we can’t handle. You'll have until 5 p.m. to hit as many stops as possible before the raffle begins.

It’s a good weekend for the arts. Consort Canzona presents a free concert on Sunday: “Madrigals and Dances: A Celebration of Renaissance Music.” The ‘Music Man’ wraps up its successful run at the Community Center. The Capital City Community Band performs old favorites at Western Nevada College. And you won’t want to miss the Zephyrus Brass Quintet on the Dangberg Ranch lawn.

SUNDAY:

Bundle up, Carson City. We aren’t afraid of a little wind, are we? The Dangberg Home Historic Ranch is celebrating our infamous Washoe Zephyr this weekend with kite making, demonstrations, and more. The Friends of the Silver Saddle Ranch would love to see you at their open house on Saturday; if you’re an early riser, join them on a 7 a.m. bird walk. The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is hosting their annual Cops and Kids Open House, so head to the courthouse for some fun.

Just remind yourself that these April showers bring May flowers, and the balmy spring weather is returning in just a few days. This weekend has indoor and outdoor activities aplenty, so you can choose the degree of wind and rain you want to deal with.

The Carson City Band Association, Inc. is proud to host its 12th Annual Wine Tasting Fundraiser. All proceeds raised at this event will benefit the Carson High School Band programs. Your support helps these vital programs remain strong for our future musicians.

Students in these programs gain more than a finer appreciation of music. They also learn teamwork, discipline, confidence and leadership. This years' Wine Tasting will be held Saturday, April 25, at the Empire Ranch Golf Club on Fairway off Highway 50 East beginning at 5 p.m.

Zephyrus Brass Quintet, an affiliate of the Carson City Symphony, will play for the first annual Blood Drive for Life on Saturday, Jan. 26, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Carson Mall, 1227 S. Carson Street. Admission is free.

The blood drive, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., is sponsored by Northern Nevada Youth Football League and United Blood Services. Two semi-pro teams, the Reno Reapers women's team and the Nevada Dream team, will be at the event.

Zephyrus Brass Quintet, an affiliate of the Carson City Symphony, will perform inside Carson Mall, 1313 S. Carson Street in Carson City, on Sunday, December 18, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The quintet, hosted by Carson Mall, will play a free concert of holiday brass music to lift your spirits.
