Partnership Carson City hosts Saturday's safe at-home drug disposal day

Partnership Carson City, founded to develop a healthy community, and other partners are educating the community about how to safely dispose of prescription drugs this Saturday, Sept. 26 from 10 a.m. to noon at Smith's Food and Drug Store, located at 599 E William St. Additionally, Partnership will have a collection box for safe disposal of sharps (syringes) and providing free Deterra Bags for safe-at-home disposal and lockboxes for storage.

Walmart and Salvation Army team up in Carson City, Douglas for modified school supply drive

For the second year in a row, The Salvation Army is holding school supply drives at more than 4,500 Walmart locations across the country. In the Carson City, Douglas County and Reno areas, there are 8 Walmart stores participating this Friday through Sunday. Due to COVID-19, the need is greater than ever before. It also means our campaign looks a little different this year.

Carson City Brewfest cancelled due to COVID-19, rescheduled for 2021

The Rotary Club of Carson City has announced that The Capital City Brewfest, scheduled for August 29th, will not take place this summer due to the COVID 19 virus.

The annual event, which funds the Rotary Club’s scholarships and youth programs, featured several dozen regional breweries and distilleries. The club has set the date of June 26, 2021 for the next Brewfest.

The Capital City Community Band and the Mile High Jazz Band Association, in cooperation with Carson Middle School, will present a free Summer Showcase Band Concert on Sunday, June 23, 2019, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Brewery Arts Center’s outdoor stage at Minnesota and King streets in Carson City, the same stage used for the Levitt Amp concerts. Some seating is available, and the public is invited to bring chairs.

Local restaurant and brewery, The Fox Brewpub, will hold a fundraiser for a local family whose daughter was recently diagnosed with cancer on Saturday, April 6 from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m.

The event, which will raise funds for ten year-old Aylee Sharron, who was recently diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma and is the daughter of Mariel and Tony Sharron, will feature a raffle and live-music.
