Obama's Hiroshima Hypocrisy vs Memorial Day
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Mon, 05/30/2016 - 6:23pmThe recent traitorous attempt by President Obama to rewrite the history of America's war against Japanese imperialism, ignores the lessons of history. Obama displays the perspective of a typical truth impaired, ignorant, partially educated, affirmative action, indoctrinated college student lacking basic knowledge of philosophy, economics and history.

Column: Think twice about trading liberty for 'rights'
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 08/05/2015 - 8:19amWhen the framers of the U.S. Constitution created the Bill of Rights, their purpose was to put in writing the limits of government. They were less concerned with what individuals should be allowed to do and more concerned with what the government should or should not be allowed to do.
These rights that we claim as ours aren’t really rights at all, but rather guarantees of what the government is not allowed to do to us.

Barbecue Ribs and Christianity On A Lazy Summer Day
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sat, 06/28/2014 - 11:48amIt started out as one of those lazy days in Carson City, where it’s not too hot, but it’s not too cold!
It’s just right!
But, when the mercury begins to creep into the triple digits, I am glad I take advantage of the cooler temperatures early in the summer season, because I hate to cook on my patio when it is 100 degrees in the shade!
This is the reason I go straight to my favorite BBQ restaurant for my semi-annual feasting of pork ribs, with corn bread, cole slaw and beans, coupled with my favorite adult libation.

Grace Works: The Church Has Left the Building!
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Fri, 05/31/2013 - 2:45pmIntroducing Grace Works, or as others have called it “The Church has left the Building!” This is a Sunday when area churches show God’s love through providing services, rather than going to services. It is an event that has been going on in several other communities across the US, involving thousands of people on a given Sunday. The First Presbyterian Church started it here in Carson City two years ago; last year Ministerios Una Puerta Al Camino ( The Church of the Door to the Way) joined them. Over 150 people participated.

Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sat, 01/19/2013 - 8:43amRecently, while dialing thru the radio spectrum I stumbled upon the “conservative” Mike Gallagher talk show, which is broadcast locally here in Carson City, on KKFT-99.1.

Dayton Food Pantry makes plea for Thanksgiving turkey donors
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Tue, 11/16/2010 - 11:19amWith an unemployment rate of nearly 20 percent in Lyon County, the Dayton Food Pantry has seen a big jump in requests for Thanksgiving food baskets and is asking the community for help.
Food Pantry Director Freida Carbery reports that while many individuals and groups have donated turkeys and trimmings, there are already 100 families in need on the Pantry list, and only 40 turkeys in the freezer. The Pantry's list of those in need doesn’t even include the numbers of families she expects to receive from the local schools this week.
