The Carson City Sheriff’s Office Special Enforcement Team arrested five people Thursday in two separate traffic stops that led to the recovery of drugs.

Carson City will be the first location in the western United States to host a permanent display of America’s founding documents, organizers with Carson City Charters of Freedom and Foundation Forward, Inc., have announced.

Nevada Humanities will welcome author Julie Buntin at a series of events throughout Northern Nevada during the month of May. Ms. Buntin is the author of Marlena: A Novel, the 2018 pick for Nevada Reads — a statewide, public book club. Nevada Reads invites Nevadans to read selected works of literature and to come together in their communities to share the ideas and perceptions inspired by the book club selections.

A 32 year-old Dayton woman was arrested Friday afternoon at 3:16 p.m. in the area of South Curry and West Tenth street for a pair of gross misdemeanors and a traffic misdemeanor, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy reported.

A 50-year-old Carson City man was arrested early Monday for suspicion of felony battery with a deadly weapon and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, misdemeanor domestic battery second offense and resisting a police officer, a sheriff’s deputy said.

Hindu prayers will open the meetings of ten city and county councils in Utah between June four to seven, containing verses from world’s oldest existing scripture.
