Mile High Jazz Band will present “Jazz Sampler for Sweethearts” on Valentine's Day Eve, Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2024, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Gina's Good Life Music & Lounge, 507 N. Carson Street inside the Carson Nugget. The music is free; donations are welcome.

Visit Carson City has hired Eric Brooks as its new Arts and Culture Program Manager. Brooks brings more than a decade of experience, having worked as an art director and gallery curator for various nonprofit organizations in northern Nevada.

The speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Eric Brooks, Gallery Curator at the Brewery Arts Center. His presentation will spotlight the upcoming Murals & Music Festival, taking place all day on Thursday September 28th, Friday September 29th, and Saturday September 30th.

Carson City, Nevada grants visitors access to many scenic trails within its city limits. Hikers and bikers enjoy year-round access to the Carson River, three back-country lakes, multiple mountain peaks, and unparalleled views in every direction. Now, with a new digital pass, there is even more incentive to explore the outdoors.

A new outdoor mural located on the north facing wall of the Carson City Visitors Center, on the corner of Carson Street and Washington Street, is the city’s newest form of public art. The mural was sponsored by the Rotary Club of Carson City, Carson City Cultural Commission, Consolidated Municipality of Carson City, Kaplan Family Trust and Visit Carson City.

Due to the great demand for COVID-19 symptomatic testing in our area, and to help manage the influx of COVID cases, Carson Tahoe is providing symptomatic testing at two convenient locations. This service is reserved is for people experiencing COVID-like symptoms such as; fever, cough, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, and sore throat.

The Quad County area (specifically Carson City) is still seeing a significant rise in COVID-19 cases, and we are continuing to see a surge in hospitalizations as well.

Heading into the final weekend of October, Halloween and Nevada Day events will keep revelers busy through Sunday making for a jam packed weekend of fun for families and grownups around the Carson City region.

The annual Nevada Day Chili feed at the Carson Nugget and a historic east-side tour of Carson City are among two new events have been added to this weekend's roster of Nevada Day festivities.

Each October, Nevadans turn their attention to the state capitol, Carson City, home of the “official” Nevada Day Parade. Since 1938, the Nevada Day Parade in Carson City has been an annual coming together to celebrate Nevada’s heritage and the founding of this great state on October 31, 1864.

Lions Club kicks off its annual “White Cane Days” Saturday and Sunday in Carson City to increase awareness of the white cane traffic safety laws, and collect used eyeglasses for distribution to those in need. Carson City Kiwanis hosted the 7th Annual Pancreatic Cancer Golf Tournament and Carson City Bench Press Championships at Silver Oak Golf Course Saturday, Sept. 19, 2020. The sold-out event resulted in 140 golfers teeing off and 9 weightlifters bench pressing to raise over $10,000 for Pancreatic Cancer Action Network and over $3,000 for the Marilyn Elaine Scholarship.

All aboard for a unique ride on the rails. Visit Carson City, in partnership with the V&T Railway Commission, have announced an all-new attraction unlike any other in northern Nevada. It’s not a train, it’s not a bike, but it is the Carson Canyon Railbike Tours.

To continue to assist in keeping our community healthy and safe during the COVID-19 pandemic, Epic Rides, the consolidated municipality of Carson City and Visit Carson City have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Carson City Off-Road, originally scheduled for June 26-28.

This event has been cancelled due to coronavirus concerns.

The Carson City Department of Arts & Culture in partnership with the Culture and Tourism Authority warmly welcome national arts data and policy specialist Randy Cohen to Carson City on March 17-18 for a series of presentations highlighting the positive impact of the arts to our local economies.

Carson City was a 19th century hub for mining, transportation and more. It was the place where a young Samuel Clemens began his literary career, and where his nom de plume Mark Twain was first revealed. Carson City was as Old West as they came.

Each year, National Read Across America Day is observed on March 2, the birthday of children’s book author Ted Geisel, also known as Dr. Seuss. In celebration, many schools often dedicate an entire week as “Reading Week.” In Carson City, grade-schoolers at Fremont Elementary School got to celebrate a week prior to the observance with several community partners and local dignitaries, who visited classrooms to read to students.
