The Vintage At Kings Canyon

A new Nissan dealership, Starbucks Coffee store, and more housing developments are among the proposed building projects currently under review by the Carson City Planning Division.

I read with great interest the two letters in response to Guy Farmer's op-ed piece related to the Vintage at Kings Canyon development.

While the individuals were correct in that the Andersons have every right to sell their land, the Planning Commission and the Board of Supervisors are not automatically obligated to approve a zoning amendment from agricultural to residential to allow for said land to be developed.

The Project known as Vintage at Kings Canyon (the Andersen Ranch) is again before city officials. The applicants are asking for an amendment to the originally approved Planned Unit Development (PUD) from December of 2016.

So, my brother, Rex, and I were talking the other day about whether or not I was going to be attending the next Board of Supervisors (BOS) meeting. I told him that after the Vintage at Kings Canyon development was shoved down our throats, I didn’t have anything new to make public comment on, but was sure that something would come along.

Plans to develop property on 78-acres between Ormsby and Mountain into a residential development known as the Vintage at Kings Canyon was recommended for approval 4-2 late Thursday by the Carson City Planning Commission following a special meeting at the Carson City Community Center.

My family and I are the owners of the Andersen Ranch on the west side of Carson City. Thousands of negative and emotional words have been written and spoken and posted on blogs about a proposed project — The Vintage at Kings Canyon — that would develop part of our property. We hope you will consider the few words that follow to better understand our vision for the future of the Andersen Ranch.

The project called The Vintage At Kings Canyon was presented by the managers in an open meeting at the Fritsch School on April 7th to a crowd estimated at 250-400 people.

On April 25 it was again the topic of another public meeting at the school. This time the meeting was called by the neighbors, and drew over 200 highly interested people, along with the mayor, two candidates for mayor, a supervisor, a candidate for supervisor, a reporter, a retired reporter, and other retired reporter also a candidate for supervisor.
