Even though forecasters say we may have showers this weekend, the cool spring rain won't dampen the fun. We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

Beyond the weather we're looking at a blockbuster day and night filled will activities throughout town. From library presentations, a TV show casting call at the Carson Nugget, an afternoon hike, to a train history presentation, a book signing at the Brewery Arts Center, a CHS theater performance and the Carson City movie screening premier of "The Mustang" filmed at the historic Nevada State Prison, there's something for everyone. The newly designed space maximizes resources for quick care (testing and treatment) and serves as a monitored, internal waiting area. Newly carpeted and furnished, the triage area was completed and opened to patients just last week.

For the Americans, Steven Jacobo established himself early as the frontrunner for Team USA, closing out the season with an eighth place finish on his home track. He rallied for the third fastest time of the fourth and final heat to show his promise in the sport.
