The speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Ron Pardini, PhD, emeritus professor of biochemistry at the University of Nevada-Reno. Dr. Pardini will tell the story of his decades-long quest to find effective nutritional approaches to cancer therapy. The scientific advances that resulted hold great promise for the future of health care.

The speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Jeff Sutich, Executive Director of the Northern Nevada Development Authority. NNDA is the state-designated Regional Development Authority for Nevada's Sierra Region: Carson City as well as Storey, Lyon, Douglas, and Mineral counties.

Established in 1981, the Northern Nevada Development Authority is a nonprofit corporation that helps to grow and strengthen the region’s economic ecosystem, and facilitates business-to-business resources to support existing businesses.

The speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Nicki Aaker, Director of Carson City Health and Human Services. Prior to her appointment in 2013, she was a senior manager at Carson City's Sierra Surgery Hospital. She holds both a Master of Science in Nursing and a Master of Public Health from the University of Nevada-Reno.

Carson City Health and Human Services protects and improves the quality of life for our community through disease prevention, education and support services. Their vision is to take the lead in providing our region with services that support healthy communities.

Speaking at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Andy Hummel, PE, manager of water and wastewater utilities at Carson City Public Works. He will provide an overview of city's water, wastewater, and stormwater utilities, touching on those systems' history, operations, quality control and growth capacity, as well as current and future projects that may be of interest to the general public.

The speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Devan Doan, Rural Engagement Coordinator for the Nevada State Democratic Party (NSDP). His presentation will lay out plans in the works for the upcoming legislative session, and ways in which Carson City's Democrats may be able to assist with those efforts.

The Nevada Young Alumni Chapter invites the Northern Nevada community to Beer Fest - the region’s oldest and premier tasting event. The 27th annual scholarship fundraiser will take place on Saturday, June 11 at Greater Nevada Field from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon will be Elliott Parker, PhD, Professor of Economics at the University of Nevada-Reno. His PowerPoint presentation will bring the current economic headlines — from ongoing labor shortages to supply chain disruptions to stubbornly high inflation rates and Fed monetary policy responses — into the context of longer-term macroeconomic trends.

Leonard Weinberg, Emeritus Professor of Political Science at the University of Nevada-Reno will speak via Zoom at Monday's Democratic luncheon. Prof. Weinberg has served as a senior fellow at the National Memorial Institute for the Prevention of Terrorism in Oklahoma City and at the National Security Studies Center at the University of Haifa in Israel. His specialist research areas include right wing violence, neo-fascism and conspiracy theories.

Monday's Democratic luncheon will feature a presentation by Donald Easton-Brooks Ph.D., Dean of the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Nevada-Reno. The theme of his remarks will be the need for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) to be a major part of engaging with today's communities. With people of color already representing 50% of the U.S.

The featured speaker at Carson City's June 14th Democratic luncheon will be wild horse and burro ecologist and biologist Craig Downer. His appearance follows on from the extended presentation on climate change he gave at the April 26th tele-luncheon, when there was insufficient time to summarize the points made or engage in a question and answer session with in-person attendees and those who took advantage of the full-length, on-demand video recording. All those seeking such clarifications are encouraged to attend.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic tele-luncheon will be Elliott Parker, PhD, Economics professor at the University of Nevada-Reno and Nevada's Second Gentleman. His presentation, on the subject of budget deficits and public debt, will explore the issue of when reliance upon deficit spending to finance public sector investments is warranted and prudent, and how increases in levels of accumulated government debt affects interest rates and perceptions of national credit worthiness.

The featured speaker at Monday's Democratic tele-luncheon will be biologist Craig Downer, who will explain how climate change is impacting Nevada's herds of wild horses and burros. Over the years, he has collected data from more than fifty herd management areas, and supplied the BLM and the public with valuable research based on hundreds of scientifically based ecological evaluations.

Featured speaker at Monday's Democratic tele-luncheon will be Elizabeth Haase MD, Medical Director of Behavioral Health at Carson Tahoe Regional Medical Center. A psychiatrist with decades in private practice, Dr. Haase also serves as part of the voluntary faculty at the University of Nevada-Reno School of Medicine. The focus of her remarks at the tele-luncheon will be the mental health impacts of climate change.
